Chapter 766
chapter766
Corley glanced around the table, laden with a Thanksgiving feast that would make any cook proud. "Hey, since it's Anne's first time here, how about we take a group photo?"
The suggestion hit right at the heart of the grandparents. They hadn't ever had a family photo with their granddaughter before!
Grandpa nodded enthusiastically, "Absolutely, it's a moment worth capturing."
Grandma chimed in, "Corley, make sure you take a good one. We'll want to print it out and add it to the family album."
With a playful grin, Corley responded, "I'm not taking the picture. Let's have the housekeeper do it."
"Oh right, silly me," Grandma chuckled. "I forgot you need to be in the photo too."
Corley called over the housekeeper. Roseanne, standing by Grandma's side, wrapped her arm around her with a warm smile. Corley stood next to her, and Grandpa took his place on the end.
"Ready?" the housekeeper asked.
Grandma nodded eagerly, "Yes, yes, we're ready."
Click. The shutter snapped, capturing the moment. The grandparents looked content and gentle, Roseanne beamed softly, and Corley had a charming smile.
The housekeeper, just to be safe, snapped a few more shots. To their delight, every picture turned out great.
She handed the phone back to Corley, who promised, "Don't worry, I'll definitely print them out."
Satisfied, Grandma nodded approvingly.
Corley reviewed the photos, nodding along with her. He made a mental note that maybe the housekeeper deserved a little raise for her photography skills.
He then captured a few shots of the food spread before finally sitting down to enjoy the meal.
...
After dinner, Roseanne joined Grandma in the living room to watch some TV. Meanwhile, Grandpa went for a walk with an old neighbor, a tradition they'd kept for decades.
Even from a distance, you could hear Grandpa's booming voice, "... Yes! We found her! She's in Pinehollow now, all settled down..."
"What does she do? She writes novels, mystery ones... Oh, you've got to read 'Seven Days'! My daughter wrote it... You've heard of it? Well, that's great! You must read it!"
"And today, my granddaughter visited... She's doing her grad studies at Kingswell University, quite the scholar... No boyfriend yet..."
"Haha... We're truly blessed, I tell you..."
Grandma hummed softly, "Oh, don't mind him. He used to be a homebody, but ever since we got
back from Pinehollow, he's beet
visiting friends every day. Even if they're busy, he insists on meeting up, just to share how content and happy he is now."
Roseanne couldn't help but giggle.
"See, even you find it amusing! I tell him, and he just says he's been holding back
for over twenty years. Now, he's just making up for lost time."
Geneva, however, held back her own urge to boast. She worried about tempting fate, that showing off happiness could make it vanish.
Yet, she couldn't help but envy Grandpa's carefree joy.
Roseanne gently squeezed her hand, "Grandma, don't worry. It's all in the past. From now on, you should go ahead and flaunt your happiness, just like any ordinary grandma would."
Geneva was taken aback by how perceptive her granddaughter was, picking up on her fears without a word being said.
"Alright then... like an ordinary grandma?"
"Yes, exactly!"
As they chatted, Corley sat across from them on the couch, casually scrolling through his phone. But in reality, he was keeping a close eye on Roseanne. Watching her make Grandma laugh and comfort her with such patience made him smile, too. ?wnovel

Corley opened his photo album and found the group photo they'd taken before dinner. In it, Roseanne was nestled close to Grandma, her expression tender. He stood next to her, and though the picture suggested they were close, Corley knew there was still a distance between them that only he could feel.
