Chapter 902

Theodore and Manuel slipped out to the smoking area, the air between them heavy with more than just tobacco smoke. Theodore noticed a hickey on Manuel’s neck and smirked. "Finally, she got you."

Manuel remained silent, but the conversation quickly turned to the grim reality of the Wells family.

"What kind of person do you think Lillian is?" Theodore asked. "I used to think she was innocent."

"I never felt that way," Manuel replied bluntly.

They both worried for Oscar. While Hannah remained "generous and peaceful" in the background, Lillian was increasingly vocal about her ambitions. Oscar had become more taciturn, burying himself in his devotion to Una. Theodore feared that the repressed emotions and the dual life Oscar was leading would eventually lead to a total collapse.

Inside the baby room, the nannies were dismissed, leaving only Lillian and her father, Rowan. The mask of the "happy mother" fell away.

"Haven't had sex yet?" Rowan asked, cutting straight to the point.

Lillian looked down, confirming his suspicion. Rowan sighed heavily, explaining that Oscar’s power was becoming absolute. He was denying Rowan’s proposals and tightening his grip on the Wells Group.

"I'm worried," Rowan whispered. "Oscar is making Una dependent on him. Think about it—if Una loves him more than anyone, she won't need you. He’s growing that bond on purpose to separate you from your daughter."

Lillian’s heart hammered in her chest. She had viewed Oscar’s love for Una as her greatest shield, but Rowan was painting it as a gilded cage.

"You mean... Oscar is planning something for himself?" she asked in horror.

"Right," Rowan nodded grimly. "When Oscar has Una’s total loyalty, we become expendable. We won't survive a failure if he holds the only thing you have left."
