Chapter 593

chapter593

“Unbelievable! Truly unbelievable!” Quintus had been exclaiming throughout the drive back to the Lenoir residence. After a few minutes of energized commentary, he turned to Emmanuel with a look of genuine surprise. “I have to hand it to whoever planned that. Hubert has been acting with impunity for far too long. To see him face such a public and irreversible blow to his reputation... it’s a level of tactical brilliance I didn't expect. The whole of Yeringham is talking about it!”

The fallout from the evening's events at the Quillen residence had already begun to spread through the city's social networks. Quintus, who had long viewed Hubert as a tiresome rival and a stain on the family's extended connections, found a certain grim satisfaction in seeing him finally held accountable. In his view, Hubert’s arrogance had been a liability to everyone associated with him.

Emmanuel remained silent, offering only a brief shrug. His original intent had been to deliver a firm warning to Hubert to stay away from Mackenzie. He hadn't anticipated that Beatrix would take such drastic measures to ensure Hubert’s social exile was so absolute. At this point, even Emmanuel was struggling to find the words to describe the scale of the fallout.

As they neared the gates of the Lenoir estate, Emmanuel suddenly called out, “Stop the car!”

Quintus slammed on the brakes. Before the vehicle had even come to a full halt, Emmanuel was already out and moving toward the garage.

“Hey! Your reflexes are as sharp as ever!” Quintus shouted with a laugh, trailing behind him. “Always the man of action!”

But Emmanuel wasn't interested in banter. His eyes were locked on a luxury sedan parked in the Lenoir garage. The license plate was unmistakable—it was from Zovince. “Is Magnus Zelinsky here?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Quintus blinked, his playful demeanor shifting as he recognized the car. “Yeah, that’s his. Wait—where are you going?”

Without answering, Emmanuel strode into the main hall of the Lenoir residence. The estate was heavily guarded, but tonight the security detail stepped aside, recognizing him as the specialist responsible for Claudette’s ongoing recovery.

“Magnus! Come out and face me!” Emmanuel’s voice echoed through the grand living room. He had made a vow to ensure those who targeted Mackenzie and Claudette faced the consequences of their actions, and he intended to keep it.

“Dr. Lowe, please lower your voice. This is a private residence,” the Lenoir family’s head butler intervened, signaling for the household guards to form a perimeter.

Emmanuel ignored him, his focus entirely on the upper gallery. “Don’t hide, Magnus! I know you’re here!”

The butler, aware of Emmanuel’s importance to the family’s well-being, hesitated to take forceful action without Adolph’s direct command. He quickly signaled a subordinate to alert the master of the house.

A moment later, Magnus appeared, but he wasn't alone. Walking beside him was a young woman in athletic attire, her hair pulled back in a sharp ponytail. She possessed a cold, disciplined air, her movements suggesting a background in high-level martial arts.

“Magnus Zelinsky. So you finally decided to show yourself,” Emmanuel said, his gaze hardening. He cared nothing for Magnus’s status or the influence of the Zelinsky name.

Magnus offered a faint, condescending smile, showing no sign of concern. “Still as impulsive as ever, I see.”

“An arrogant display from someone who doesn't know his limits,” the woman beside Magnus remarked icily. Before Emmanuel could close the distance, she moved with startling efficiency, executing a swift defensive strike that forced him to step back.

She’s fast, Emmanuel noted, his eyes narrowing as he recalibrated.

At that moment, Quintus finally caught up, leaning against a pillar as he surveyed the scene. “Well, I see the evening’s entertainment has moved indoors. This should be interesting.” As the only member of the Lenoir family present, he showed no inclination to intervene, seemingly content to watch the tension between the two sides reach its breaking point.
