Chapter 350

Chapter 350

Even if he couldn’t hear me clearly, I’m not going to repeat it! “I’m going back!” Janet glared at Mason with mock ferocity. She gave his chest a firm shove, preparing to untangle herself from the sofa and make her escape.

Mason only smiled dotingly, his eyes softened by a warmth he reserved for her alone. He pulled her back into his arms with effortless strength. “Hush now. You don’t have to repeat it if you don’t want to.”

Janet sneaked a sideways glance at him. That’s more like it. If he had pushed her to say those words again, she might have actually died of embarrassment.

“You’re so troublesome,” Mason murmured, his voice dropping into a gentle, honeyed register. “Why don’t you just stay? Accompany me for an afternoon nap.”

Janet didn't pull away this time. Instead, she lowered her gaze and nestled her face against the crook of his neck. His scent—clean, masculine, and intensely familiar—wrapped around her like a shield. A satisfied smile played on her lips. In a voice so quiet it was barely a breath against his skin, she whispered, “I love you.”

Then, she squeezed her eyes shut.

“I love you too,” Mason replied. He had heard the whisper perfectly. The corners of his mouth lifted, a rare, unshielded expression of joy lighting up his face.

At that moment, words felt entirely inadequate. A light breeze stirred the curtains, the only sound in the silent office besides the rapid, agitated thrum of their two hearts. They lay there together, suspended in a moment that felt too perfect for the real world.

“Babe, are you asleep?” Mason whispered seductively, his thin lips ghosting over her ear.

Janet had been on the verge of drifting off, but his voice sent a jolt of electricity through her. Her body stiffened. She kept her eyes tightly closed, too flustered to face him.

Mason felt the tension in her frame and let out a helpless, amused chuckle. “What are you so afraid of? I don’t bite.”

He tightened his grip, pulling her flush against his chest. The sun blazed outside the office windows, but its heat couldn't compare to the scorching passion radiating from the man holding her.

Meanwhile, at the Jackson residence, Chloe, Emily, and Rebecca were still surrounded by piles of packages, their curiosity reaching a fever pitch.

Suddenly, Chloe pulled out a branded box. It wasn't overly large, but the name of the sender made her freeze. Walter Lynn. And it was sent from a local address.

Chloe’s heart skipped. Walter Lynn? The name was more than just familiar; it was legendary. A handsome, talented face flashed through her mind. “I... I can’t believe this!” she stammered excitedly. “Is this package actually from the Walter Lynn?!”

Emily’s head snapped toward her, her eyes widening in astonishment. She leaned over, snatching a look at the label. “Let me see!”

Sure enough, the name was printed clearly. It was sent from within Sandfort City. Emily’s mind began to race. Could it really be from the celebrity Walter Lynn?

Rebecca, watching the two girls descend into a state of panic, frowned. “Who exactly is Walter Lynn?” She was starting to look down on Chloe for being so unworldly. What is so special about a celebrity?

Emily, however, had already reached her own conclusion. She broke into a triumphant, wide-eyed smile. “That must be a present for me!” She yanked the box out of Chloe’s hands.

“What makes you think it’s yours?” Chloe asked, her voice tinged with disappointment. “It could be for me.”

“Oh, please,” Emily scoffed, her ego inflating by the second. “Out of the three of us, I’m the only one who has actually met Walter. We crossed paths at the police station. Clearly, he couldn't forget me!”

Looks like my charm is stronger than Janet’s after all! Emily thought, her heart racing with excitement. He’s already sending me gifts... could he have feelings for me? Though she still intended to win over Mason Lowry, the idea of having a famous celebrity as a backup—or even a primary suitor—sent her confidence skyrocketing.

Seeing Chloe’s downcast expression, Rebecca offered a backhanded comfort. “Well, Emily is quite famous in Sandfort City now. It’s not that strange for a celebrity to want to get on her good side. Don’t be too disappointed, Chloe.”

Chloe bit her lip, but Rebecca’s logic seemed sound. I’ll just have to practice my piano harder, Chloe vowed silently. Sooner or later, I’ll be the one Walter Lynn notices.

Emily clutched the package to her chest, her smile radiant and utterly delusional. “Don’t say that, Auntie! I’m sure it’s just a small token... though I really have no idea why he’d go to such lengths for me.”
