Chapter 66

.Emilia didn't hesitate; she launched a swift kick at one of the bodyguards and snatched the baseball bat right out of his hands.

Another guard lunged at Edwin, but before Edwin could react, Emilia yanked him out of harm's way and swung the bat hard at the man's wrist.

The bodyguard yelped as pain shot up his arm, dropping his weapon with a clatter on the floor.

Edwin stood there, gaping in silence, still frozen by the shock. Emilia's voice cut through the tension as she snapped, "Why are you just standing there? Pick up the bat and help out!"

Snapped back to reality, Edwin scrambled for the fallen bat. He clutched it tight, adrenaline flooding his system as he finally joined the chaos.

At the same time, Sloane had knocked out another bodyguard and claimed a bat of her own, gripping it like she'd been waiting for this moment.

With Emilia leading the charge, Sloane knew exactly how to play her role, let Emilia clear the path, and then finish the job.

One by one, the bodyguards ended up sprawled on the floor, groaning in agony, twisting like stranded fish as the pain settled in.

Across the room, Slater, Brixton, and Emilio stood frozen in disbelief, every muscle locked in place.

Emilia's glare, icy and unwavering, pinned them where they stood, the bat in her hands was promising trouble if any of them dared to move.

None of them could process what they were seeing.Emilia, the quiet one, was always so meek, never talking back, no matter how much they teased her.The same woman they'd once joked about, telling Sebastian his sister-in-law was too soft for her own good. But this Emilia? She was fierce, untouchable. How had she transformed overnight? Just a while ago,Sebastian couldn't stop complaining that Emilia was nothing but a leech, living off the Mitchells and bringing nothing to the table.

Lately, all anyone said was that she'd picked up a strange hobby like race car driving. But nobody mentioned she'd become a fighter who could clear a room.

Emilia opened her mouth to speak, but before a single word left her lips, the three of them dropped to their knees, panic written all over their faces.

"Please, Emilia! I swear I won't do it again! Just let me off this once!"

"I was out of line. I shouldn't have shouted, please,I'm begging you!"

"You have no right to hit us! Everything that's happened is because you brought shame to the Mitchell family by cheating on Rodger!"

That accusation made Edwin freeze. For a split second, he stared at Emilia as if seeing her for the first time. Was this really the Mitchell family he'd always known? And was she really Rodger's woman?

A sharp, humorless laugh escaped Emilia. She smacked the bat lightly against her palm. "So let me get this straight. He can sleep around all he wants, but I'm supposed to stay loyal? Does that really sound fair to you?"

Slater shot back, unable to help himself, "It's not the same! Men have pride; being cheated on is the worst thing that could happen to a guy!"

The absurdity of it almost made Emilia laugh.

"Oh, come on," she scoffed. "You think women don't have pride? We're all human beings, aren't we? If you can't handle the game, maybe you shouldn't play."

"That's easy for you to say! You're nothing but a freeloader. You don't get to act like you're family just because you married in. You don't have any rights here! " Slater spat, glaring at her. In his eyes, Emilia was nothing beyond a servant brought in by the Mitchell family, not even worthy of being called a mistress. And yet, she dared to crave the privileges that came with the family name. What .a laughable fantasy.

Emilia had never been the type to waste time talking. She believed in letting her actions speak for her.Without a word, she drove her foot into him and sent him crashing to the'ground.

Her cold, unblinking glare sent the other two scrambling backward on their knees, sneaking anxious glances her way.

Meanwhile, Edwin watched her, admiration blazing in his gaze, his heart pounding with something dangerously close to awe.
