Chapter 69

Stepping through the front doors of the club, Emilia found her exit blocked by two tall figures, both staring her down with cold glares.

Without thinking twice, Sloane moved in front of Emilia, ready toshield her from trouble.

"Move aside," snapped Rodger, his glare fixed on Sloane.

Emilia caught Sloane by the arm and pulled her behind, facing Rodger head-on. "If anyone needs to move aside,it's you."

"You shouldn't be here. Come with me now," Rodger demanded, annoyance all over his face as he tried to grab her hand.

Emilia jerked her arm free, smacking his hand away."Don't touch me." Rodger hissed in pain, recoiling as irritation flickered across his face. "Remember, the divorce isn't finalized. Like it or not, you're still my wife. You need to think about your reputation."

"Those warnings suit you better than me," Emilia retorted with a cold laugh.

Rodger's patience finally snapped. "Enough, Emilia! This isn't up for discussion! You've been shameless, chasing after every guy in sight, and now you're clinging to this little pretty boy. Have you got even a shred of respect left for me or the Mitchell family?"

"Neither you nor your precious Mitchell family matters to me," Emilia replied coldly.

"You!" Rodger clenched his fists, barely holding back the urge to force her to leave with him.

Right before things could escalate, a tall figure stepped between them, placing himself protectively in front of Emilia.

"Are you alright, Miss Harris?" Edwin asked, concern written all over his face.

"Yeah. I'm alright," Emilia answered with a calm nod.

If Edwin hadn't rushed over, Rodger would have found himself in serious trouble. Someone had already taken care of breaking one of his arms.Rodger never seemed to learn, and Emilia would gladly make sure he remembered, even if she had to wrench his other arm out of place for good measure.

"Is this your new kept man now?" Rodger sneered, his voice laced with jealousy and anger.

"And what if he is? Last I checked, that's none of your concern," Emilia retorted, her tone dripping with disdain.

"It absolutely is my concern! You're still my wife. It's your duty to uphold the Mitchell family's reputation and stay loyal to me," Rodger snapped, his voice rising with each word.

A humorless laugh escaped Emilia. "Oh yeah? And since when did you do exactly the same thing?" "Anyways, until our divorce is finalized, I forbid you from getting close to any man," Rodger said, puffed up with self-importance.

"Fuck off. Look in the mirror before you call anyone out. You're in no position to order me around."Emilia's expression turned cold.

Rodger fumed in silence, but then Sebastian jumped in, voice sharp and threatening. "You blackmailed my friends for money. I swear,I could have you thrown behind bars this instant!"

Edwin, eager to defend her, spoke up. "Miss Harris didn't blackmail anyone. If it's about the money-"

Emilia caught his arm, gently pulling him back, silencing him with a pointed glance.

Edwin opened his mouth to continue, but after seeing her warning look, he clamnped down and said nothing more.

"Here's your chance. Put the cuffs on me. Call the police. I'm waiting," Emilia said, stretching out her hands with a smirk. "If I go down, I'm dragging all of you with me. Your brother's going to end up with an ex-con as his wife, and as for your friends, their families will watch their companies go up in smoke after that nightclub brawl. Losing a million wvill be the least of their worries."

When faced with unreasonable people, she matched their venom with an equal measure of resolve. They caused a scene, hurt people, and destroyed her expensive liquor. Of course, they had to cough up the money.

Emilia's bold stand pushed the Mitchell brothers to the edge, but they could do nothing about it.

The risk was too high. If she landed in jail, their reputations and their businesses would suffer serious blowS.

Edwin couldn't look away from her, awe written all over his face,

To him, she blazed like a force of nature, and that light was reflected in his wide, admiring eyes.
