Chapter 65
As Emily walked to the payment counter with the receipt in hand, her eyes caught a familiar figure in the crowd. Patrick's tall frame stood out.oozing elegance and charisma, drawing everyone's atention.
'Patrick! What's he doing at the hospital?' Emily wondered. After storming out of Maple Peak Apartments. he hadn't even sent a message. It probably seemed to Patrick that Emily's emotions were fleeting. coming and going in an instant. never really weighing on him. He certainly wasn't here for himself, was he?
When Patrick turned around. Emily got a clear look at his face. confirming it was him.
"What are you staring at. Emily?" Melissa asked, noticing Emily had stopped walking. She followed Emily's gaze and saw Patrick. "Is that Patrick? Is he here for you?"
Even with the crowd between them,Patrick somehow noticed Emily standing there, their eyes locking with an intense heat.
Emily guessed Patrick was at the hospital because his injuries hadn't healed yet. "People who are despicable must have their reasons,"She muttered under her breath. As she spoke, a hint of worry crept into her words.
Patrick hesitated, the awkwardness from their last encounter still fresh. But he found it odd that Emily was at the hospital, holding a stack of checklists. The girl with her seemed to be a junior from, school, the one who was often absent due to illness.
"Emily. he's coming over! What do we do?" Melissa stepped forward, half
shielding Emily.
But Emily looked away from Patrick. grabbed Melissa's arm. and disappeared into the crowd.
Feeling a sudden pain in her stomach. Emily asked Melissa to fetch some medicine while she went to the restroom. They agreed to meet at the entrance later.
Seeing Melissa walk away, Patrick discreetly followed Emily to the restroom. He leaned against the corridor wall, waiting.
A few minutes later. Emily emerged. looking for Melissa.Suddenly.a substantial hand grabboed her. It was Patrick! The mix of perfume and disinfectant filled the air. The hand she held felt like a tether she wanted to break free from. Yet. Emily didn't muster all her strength to do so.She both yearned for freedom and feared it. Because the Patrick who resided in her heart had never truly left.
Patrick urgently led Emily towards the emergency exit. Panic set in as Emily realized what was about to happen. At the emergency exit, Patrick pushed the door open and pulled Emily inside, kissing her passionately.Despite her resistance, Patrick's excitement grew.
Patrick's hands roamed over Emily's body, igniting a response from her.Her initial resistance faded, and she succumbed to his kisses, even letting out a familiar moan. The anger from their earlier argument was replaced by mutual longing.
As Patrick's hand moved downwards, Emily gently stopped him.whispering,"Can we go to bed?" Patrick was taken aback. Did Emily seem to understand him a bit better? Or was it that she was in a good mood today? She had taken the initiative to express such a need, and there was
no reason for him to refuse.
"Emily, please come to the information desk in the lobby on the first floor.Your friend is waiting there," the sudden announcement startled Patrick.causing him to release Emily. She quickly straightened her clothes and hair.then disappeared into the crowd. Emily had never felt so relieved in the hospital's crowded environment; Patrick wouldn't easily catch up to her.
Watching Emily slip away, leaving behind the scent of her lavender shampoo. Patrick wondered when she had become so eager to leave him.
Patrick still saw Emily as the girl who used to beg him to stay the night.
Emily left hand in hand wvith Melissa. The distress call was actually made by Melissa at Emily's request while Emily was in the bathroom.
Emily knew Patrick's scent so well that she could identify him even through a wall and a corridor. Over their ten years together, she had bought every bottle of cologne and shampoo for him. How well she must know Patrick.
