Chapter 83
At Crystal Heights Residences. Emily absentmindedly set the tomato soup on the dining table. As she stared at the steaming bowl. her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. Watching Patrick dig into his dinner like he belonged there, she thought. 'Am I losing it again? Why did I let him come over for dinner? Should I kick him out after we eat?' She was torn.not sure how to deal with Patrick.
Noticing Emily just standing there. Patrick grabbed her hand.pulled her to a chair, and said. "Come on, eat up. Don't you have some drawing to do after dinner? Don't waste time. After we eat. I'll take you to the park for a walk. Fresh air and exercise are good for you." His voice had a touch of care and tenderness.
Emily looked at Patrick, feeling a strange sense of gratitude. She knew he was looking out for her, but she had her own worries.
As Patrick talked about their plans for after dinner, Emily realized they seemed like an old married couple, coming home from work, cooking dinner, and then going for a walk. It was so ordinary, the kind of life most couples have. She had dreamed of this scene so many times, and now it was happening again. even after she had decided to leave Patrick.
Seeing Emily lost in thought, not even noticing the tomato soup on her lips, Patrick picked up a napkin and reached out to wipe it off.
Emily stared at him blankly; it was as if she saw a different Patrick, a gentle and caring Patrick who was not bossy. She wished time could stop right there, letting her forget all the past unhappiness. She also hoped Patrick would really stay by her side, being a gentle and caring partner.
As night fell, Patrick and Emily strolled through Crystal Heights
Residences like an old married couple, then took a leisurely walk through Crystal Heights Park before heading back to the apartment.
Emily checked her watch; it was already 8:30 PM. "Aren't you going back tonight?" she asked, her voice a mix of anticipation and anxiety.
Patrick opened the closet. pulled out some men's clothes, and said. "What's with all this talk about never seeing each other again? You forgot your own stuff but remembered to bring mine?"
Patrick's teasing tone made Emily blush instantly. She rushed forward in a few steps and quickly grabbed the blue silk pajamas from him, saying. "No.these are for my brother!" Her voice was panicked and shy.
Patrick raised an eyebrow and said. "I remember your brother is only 10years old, right? Does he wear clothes in an adult size?" His tone was teasing and confused.
Hearing Patrick's teasing, Emily blushed even more, stuttering,"It's none of your business."
Seeing Emily's embarrassed expression, Patrick felt a sense of accomplishment. He pulled her close, leaned down, and whispered in her ear,"After you left, I ran out of my shower gel. William bought me a bunch of different kinds, but none of them are like yours. It's my favorite scent. Give me the clothes, I'm going to take a shower." His voice was soft and gentle, like a feather brushing against Emily's ear, with a hint of hoarseness and desire.
Emily's heart softened, and Patrick snatched the pajamas from behind her and headed into the bathroom.
Seeing Patrick acting all shameless, Emily stomped her foot, turned back to
the living room, crossed her arms. and pouted in anger. 'When did he become like this? He used to be the aloof CEO. If he were still that proud and arrogant Patrick, she could have kicked him out with just a few words. But now, he was shameless! No matter how harshly she spoke, it felt like she was indirectly trying to keep him around.
Emily thought and worried that Patrick had gotten too comfortable living at Crystal Heights Residences. If something unexpected happened.or if he took advantage of her inattentiveness to have sex with her and it harmed the baby, it would be a disaster. She still didn't dare to tell Patrick about the pregnancy. As she thought about this. a worried expression appeared on Emily's face.
Emily sat on the sofa in the living room, her heart a mess of conflicting emotions.
The sound of water from the bathroom made Emily's heart beat faster. She thought of Patrick's sexy body and gentle gaze, a strange desire welling up inside her. She knew she shouldn't have such thoughts, but she couldn't control her emotions.
She remembered the doctor's advice: the first three months were very dangerous for the baby, especially after her recent scare. She had barely managed to save the baby, so she shouldn't have sex, at least not for another five or six months.
Thinking of this, Emily quickly gave herself a mental pep talk. She must hold on. She absolutely had to resist Patrick's seductive charm.
Patrick finished showering and stood at the bedroom door with his wet hair. water droplets dripping down, shimmering faintly in the light. He looked at Emily, seeing her furrowed brow and anxious expression, a hint of curiosity rising in his heart. He naturally walked over, put his arm
around Emily's shoulder, and asked softly, "What's bothering you? Tell me so I can make fun of you."
Feeling Patrick's warm breath on her, Emily felt restless. She reached out and pushed Patrick's chest, saying, "Shut up. Mr. Rivera, with the Rivera Manor being so big, why do you have to squeeze into my tiny house? Don't you feel cramped?"
When Emily said this, her eyes slightly narrowed. The proud Patrick, who usually despised being provoked with questions, was now in front of her.She really wanted to know if, at that moment, he had lowered his standards when it came to her.
