Chapter 48

"Mr. Smith!'

Bianca whispered, still in disbelief.

She had once seen him from afar while tailing Tames. Eventhough it was a fleeting glimpse, she had been both awestruckand intimidated. She knew her own background and healthissues, and someone like him was way out of her league. So,she had never entertained any unrealistic fantasies.

But now, seeing Emily actually talking to him..

No,it had to be a coincidence. Emily must have brazenlyapproached him. And look, Emily didn't get in the car andwas sent away, right?

Bianca rassured herself with these thoughts. She watchedEmily leave with a sullen expression, debating whether toapproach and dig for information.

Then she noticed someone lurking around the corner whereEmily was heading. Bianca's gloominess faded, replaced by :manic smile. She almost forgot about the call she had madeearlier.

Emily, you think you're so clever? Let's see how you handlethis.?

"Come out!"

Emily had already walked up to the person watching her andspoke calmly.

"I knew you'd notice us," said the leader, wearing a plain whiteT-shirt that didn't draw attention. As he stepped out, theothers positioned themselves to block any escape routes forEmily.

"Yeah, I noticed you. So let's cut to the chase, who sent you?

Emily asked in a steady voice.

The man chuckled, "I’ll tell you, but only if you cooperate andcome with us to that alley for some photos." He pointed to anarrow, deserted alley nearby, which was actually a dead end

Emily showed no fear and replied calmly, "Alright, let's go.

The man, surprised by her compliance, didn't use force and ledher to the alley. Soon, they reached the end of it.

Emily stopped walking. The men exchanged glances, somefinding angles, others pulling out their phones.

"Take off your clothes," the man ordered with a smirk

Emily's expression turned icy, "I never agreed to that.

The man, taken aback by her sudden defiance, scowled,"Youdon't have a choice."

His tone carried a threat, and he signaled his men to grab her.

Emily's smile widened, but it didn't reach her eyes, "Is that so?

I'II return those words to you.

The man rowned, not understanding her meaning. He thoughtshe might be crazy. But soon, he realized what she meant.

Suddenly, he and his men couldn't move. Their limbs felt weak

and they collapsed to the ground.

"What did you do?" the man asked, terrified, looking at EmilyThey hadn't seen her do anything, yet they were paralyzed.

Emily didn't want to make things too hard for them. "When lgot close to you, I accidentally used a little drug. It's colorlessand tasteless. Right now, it just makes you feel weak. In a bit.you’ll feel normal again, but tonight, it'll feel like your bodiesare being eaten by thousands of ants. Eventually, you'lldevelop sores, and your bodies will rot away. Don't bothergoing to a hospital; they won't find anything. I made sure ofthat.'

The man's face turned pale with fear, and his followers beganto panic, clearly terrified of dying.

'What do you want?" the man asked after a moment of

internal struggle. "That's simple. Take me to the person who sent you. l assumethey want to use these photos to manipulate me. Otherwise. lmeet them myself.'

The man was surprised by Emily's intelligence

Everything was under her control. Emily had a good idea ofwho was behind this.

'We can take you to him. We were supposed to bring you afteltaking the photos anyway. But can you give us the antidotefirst?" the man asked cautiously.

Sure," Emily said without hesitation, "You can move now.

The men found they could move again. The man eyed herwarily, "A紇諼en't you afraid we'll harm you again?"

Emily smiled confidently, "You can try. Let's see if you're fastelthan me at using the drug.'

The man shuddered, not daring to take the risk. As Emilyfollowed them out of the alley, she didn't notice Daniel's carreturning.

"Mr.Smith, should I follow them?" York, Daniel's driver andbodyguard, asked worriedly. As Daniel's driver and topbodyguard, a few regular men couldn't be his match. Also, hehad noticed Daniel's growing interest in Emily over the pastfew days.

Daniel, rubbing his fingers, was about to get out of the carhimself. York quickly stopped him, "Mr. Smith, you can't. Thedoctor said you shouldn't exert yourself to avoid the poisonspreading.

Emily had used acupuncture to contain the poison in Danielsbody, preventing it from spreading. She had given strict

inStuctions. Daniel frowned, "Move."

His calm voice was like the calm before a storm, compellingYork to obey.Just as York was about to step aside, Danielturned back and got into the car.

York wauzzled by Daniel's sudden change of mind. Danielcoldly instructed, "Get in the car and follow them."

York got in, glancing at the alley. He saw Emily walking out

u證衣双中harmed, with the men who had surrounded her now actingstrangely, as if they feared her.

Interesting," Daniel murmured, a smile playing on his lipsYork didn't catch his words but saw Daniel smiling through

the rearview mirror.

"Mr. Smith, it looks like those men are afraid of Ms. Johnson,York remarked.

Daniel knew Emily wouldn't be easily controlled."Goodobservation." he said.

York felt sort of weird when he heard Daniel's praise

Then, Daniel reminded him again, "Keep your distance. Shemight notcie us."

York was puzzled. "Who would notice? Ms. Johnson? Seriously?

But he didn't dare to question Daniel, so he focused onfollowing the car, keeping a safe distance.

Soon, they arrived at Fortune Tower. Emily, seeing the buildingconfirmed her suspicion. It was the Reyes family.

"Call Mr. Reves and tell him I'm here to see him." sheinstructed.
