Chapter 77

"What's up with Mr.Smith?"

Harold hadn't noticed the silver needle in Emily's hand. Having spent most of his life abroad, he wasn't familiar with the power of acupuncture needles.

So.he thought James had suddenly gone mad.

Emily calmly put away the needle, a wicked smile playing on her lips. "Oh.nothing much, just a little mental breakdown."

James's face was contorted in pain, unable to form a coherent sentence.

Emily glanced at him coldly before turning to Harold. "Mr. Rogers, why don't we move somewhere else to continue our discussion? I have a new project that I think you'll find really interesting."

Initially, she hadn't planned to target James.

But now, she had changed her mind.

She and Bianca had been at each other's throats for a long time. With James siding with Bianca, they were destined to be enemies in this lifetime.

To weaken Bianca's support, James's inheritance rights had to be taken out of the equation.

Harold had seen the content of Emily's first two projects and was amazed.

Now,hearing her speak with such confidence, he believed she truly had something impressive.

His deep-set eyes sparkled with interest, and he responded enthusiastically.

"Of course. I'd be delighted to work more closely with Ms. Johnson."

Emily nodded.

The three of them ignored James and walked out.

Bianca, hearing the commotion, quickly ran away.

As Emily stepped out, she caught a glimpse of a pink dress disappearing around the corner.

Her eyes flashed with coldness.

James and Bianca were inseparable, always together.

Emily didn't bother chasing Bianca. The three of them left.

Bianca was panting heavily, feeling for a moment that Emily had spotted her.

Once she calmed her breathing, she frowned.

Why was she hiding? Even if Emily saw her,so what?

Bianca felt a bit annoyed. Ever since she fell into the water last time,Emily had become different, more imposing. Bianca found herself unconsciously fearing her.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. Bianca wanted to check on James.

She peeked into the room.

James, his face twisted in pain, finally managed to pull himself together

and turned to leave.

Bianca saw the slap mark on his face and was surprised.

But she didn't feel any pity.

She was resentful. James had claimed he had something important to do.

and this was it? Coming to see Emily?

What was it about Emily that he couldn't let go of?

She didn't show herself to James. She couldn't let him know she was following him. and she was also a bit resentful. Let him suffer a bit.

Bianca went downstairs and got into her car. When James cameout and

got into his car, she followed at a distance.

Even with a bruised face, James didn't settle down.

As soon as he got home, he called his assistant,Jace.

"Find out Emily's recent schedule and who she's been meeting."

Emily was right under his nose, yet she had managed to connect with

Aaron and Harold.

Aaron's identity must be significant; otherwise, Mr. Rogers wouldn't have

given him face.

The more he thought about it, the darker James's expression became.

It felt like something he had always controlled was slipping away, and it made him very unhappy.

Jace could sense James's displeasure even over the phone and didn't dare

question him. immediately agreeing to investigate.

After hanging up. James was still unsatisfied.

He went to the front desk and asked for Emily's room information.

Since Emily's accommodation was arranged by Daniel. the hotel didn't respond immediately. but secretly called York to report the situation.

York immediately informed Daniel.

"Mr. Smith. James wants to find out Ms. Song's room number. The hotel called to ask if they should tell him."

Daniel's eyes flashed with coldness.

"Since when does the hotel casually disclose guest information? Haven't they memorized the employee rules?"

The message was clear. York relayed Daniel's exact words to the hotel.

The hotel manager. understanding Daniel's intent. firmly responded. "Sorry.

Mr. Smith, we can't disclose guest information."

James waited for a while, only to receive this response.

He laughed angrily.

The movement pulled at his facial injury, worsening his mood. He snapped, "Fine, very well! You're the manager here, right? It seems this position isn't suitable for you."

He stormed off, leaving the staff sweating nervously. They couldn't help but look at the manager. "What now? Are you really going to get fired? If the Smith family wants youI gone, it'll be hard to find another job!"

The manager wasn't worried.

James's status was high, but it depended on who he was compared to.Compared to Daniel, it was like a commoner versus a CEO.

As long as he followed Daniel's orders, not only would he keep his job,but he might even get promoted!

Thinking this, the manager smiled, even a bit mischievously. "Send some medicine to Mr. Smith. I noticed his face was still swollen."

He was curious. James's injury appeared to be the result of a fight. Who dared to hit him? Could it be the girl named Emily?

When the medicine was delivered to James, he was still fuming and threw it out.

"Get lost! It's too late to try and please me now!"

The commotion was loud. Bianca thought it was the right time.

She couldn't really abandon James, so when the hotel staff brought the medicine, she took it and knocked on James's door.

"Before I lose my temper, leave me alone. Get lost..."

"James, it's me. Who made you so angry? Seeing your face,my heart aches! No matter how mad you are, you can't neglect your health. Can I come in and help you with the medicine?"

Bianca's voice was humble, her expression pitiful.

James knew he had just taken out his anger on her. His anger subsided a bit.

He softened his expression and let her in.

Alone in a room, applying medicine, an intimate and suggestive act.

With James needing an outlet for his anger, their gazes locked. and before they knew it, they were on the bed.

In the heat of the moment, an urgent phone call interrupted them.

Frustrated and unsatisfied, James's face darkened.

Seeing the caller ID, he still answered.

Jace was perceptive and wouldn't call without a good reason.

James answered, "This better be important."
