Chapter 59
"Sophia,Eli actually followed you here. Is there a back door in this building? Maybe you can sneak out that way?" Sophia frowned, surprised Eli had managed to track Emily down after failing to find her in the art department. She quickly suggested a plan.
"Leave? That's not gonna work. Knowing him, he's probably got someone watching the back door too, just waiting to catch me."Emily's smile was cold and mocking.
Sophia felt a pang of sympathy. "Then what should we do? Maybe you can hide in the lab. Even if he comes upstairs, he won't have the authority to enter. We can wait him out. I don't believe Eli will abandon his company just to wait for you."
It was a desperate plan, but Emily didn't want to waste her time on him. After all, she had a second chance at life, and her time was now more valuable than ever.
"No need for all that trouble. I have a way to make him leave quickly." Emily said, pulling out her phone and dialing a number. "Hello, Ms. Johnson. Are you coming to treat Byron?" The voice on the other end was eager and excited.
"Yes, I should be there this afternoon. But I need Mr. Reyes to help me with something first."
"Emily, you don't need to be so formal with me. Just tell me what you need, and I'll do my best to help." Isaac responded promptly.
"Eli is causing trouble at my school. I'm in class and don't want him to disrupt me."
Isaac shook his head at Eli's behavior. He thought to himself that with such a clueless leader, the Johnson Group's future didn't look promising. He decided he would need to distance himself from them after this project.
"Alright, that's easy. Leave it to me. I'll wait for you at home."
Isaac assured her, reminding her to come by for Byron's treatment.Emily didn't mind his reminder and hung up after a brief acknowledgment. "Emily, come down here! Mr. Johnson is here to see you. Don't be ungrateful. If you don't come down, we'll have to come up and get you ourselves." The voice from downstairs was cold and demanding.amplified by a loudspeaker that echoed through the building, clearly intended to disrupt the lab work.
Kurt, who had been working nearby, came out with a stern expression. He immediately approached Emily.
Sophia, knowing that Kurt was Emily's current mentor, quickly defended her. "Mr. Lowe, please don't blame Emily. She was lost and just recently found by the Johnson family, but they haven't treated her we11. Her father is downstairs, causing a scene to force her down. This isn't how a loving father behaves."
Kurt, moved by Sophia's defense of Emily, nodded. "Don't worry,I won't misunderstand her. You must be Emily's friend. Good job."
He then turned to Emily with a kind and protective look. "You've been through a lot. You don't need to go downstairs. I'll handle this.
Emily tried to stop him, but Kurt, being the fiery person he was,
didn't wait for her response and hurried downstairs.
Sophia, seeing Kurt's affection for Emily, was happy for her. "It's great that Mr. Lowe, your mentor, is so supportive. Without Bianca around to bother you, your future should be much smoother."
Emily smiled faintly but said nothing. Knowing Bianca's nature, she doubted the trouble was over.
Downstairs, Eli was still shouting, "Emily..."
"What's all this shouting about? Do you know where you are? This is a school. You're disrupting my students' work.Do you know how much damage a single mistake can cause?" Kurt's voice was sharp as he confronted Eli.
Eli recognized Kurt immediately. As a businessman, he knew Kurt held valuable patents and had always wanted to collaborate with him. He gestured for his bodyguards to stand down and addressed Kurt politely, "Mr. Lowe, I apologize. I'm just trying to deal with a disobedient daughter. I understand your concerns. I'll have my men go upstairs to get her quickly to minimize the disruption." Normally. a father disciplining his child wouldn't be something a teacher would interfere with. Eli thought he was being reasonable and expected Kurt to back down.
But Kurt's response was cold. "I dare anyone to try. This is a restricted area. If your daughter is disobedient, maybe you should reflect on your own actions. Has she been mistreated? Bullied? She has a talent that deserves better. As a father, you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing such a scene here. Do you want me to record this and show the world how you treat your daughter?"
Kurt pulled out his phone, ready to record. He had recently learned about the power of social media from his students and was prepared to use it.
Eli quickly covered his face, his earlier politeness replaced by a dark expression. "Mr. Lowe, Emily has been troublesome even before we brought her back to the Johnson family. She always bullied Bianca and kept things from me. I had no idea what she was doing at school."
"Do you believe that?" Kurt scoffed, recalling Bianca's calculating demeanor. "You're just biased and foolish. Emily has been through enough. If it weren't for her talent, we would have lost a brilliant mind. She's dedicated to her research. How could she be a bad person?"
Just then, Erik and several other students arrived. Erik, wanting to make amends, stepped forward. "Mr. Johnson, you must be mistaken. Emily is a diligent student and has never bullied anyone. She even helps her classmates."
"That's right. Thinking back, Emily has never done anything to deserve such a bad reputation. Most of the negative things said about her were because of Bianca's complaints."
The students' support for Emily was clear, and their perception of Bianca began to change.
