Chapter 893

chapter893

"Very," Corley acknowledged with a nod.

"Excellent."

So that was it. The men had been loaned to Corley by this Neal.

Fabian and Jay exchanged a look, the color draining from their faces. Just as they were about to quietly slip away, Neal's men, anticipating the move, grabbed them and dragged them before Corley.

"How would you like to handle this, Mr. Sullivan?" Neal asked.

Corley gave a slight smile. "They're your men. It's your call."

Neal's gaze swept over the two brothers, his voice turning hard. "In that case we'll break one of each of their hands."

"No, please, Neal!"

"Have mercy, Neal!"

"We didn't know he was your guest! We're sorry, we were wrong! We were blind! Please, spare us this once, we're begging you!"

The two of them began kowtowing on the spot.

But Neal showed no signs of softening. He raised a hand, signaling his men to proceed.

Just then, Owen Reynolds spoke up. "Perhaps you should handle your business behind closed doors. This sort of thing shouldn't be done on a decent family's doorstep."

Everyone was reminded that they were still standing in broad daylight in front of the Smith's home.

Neal nodded, and his men immediately began dragging Fabian and Jay away to be dealt with elsewhere.

Before Fabian and Jay could even breathe a sigh of relief, they knew that being taken away meant they were finished. In a last-ditch effort, Fabian's eyes darted around. "Stop! I I'm calling the police!"

Yes, the police!

"These people assaulted us! The injuries on my brother and me are all the proof we need! Jay call the local station! Now!"

Neal raised an eyebrow, finally giving Fabian a proper look. He turned to Malloy with a smirk. "Your boy here has some brains."

But not much.

Malloy looked utterly embarrassed.

Jay had already dialed. "... Yes, we're at the Smith family's house in the second cooperative of Xiaba Village."

Neal smiled at Corley. "Well, Mr. Sullivan, as you can see, it's not that I won't clean house, but they have a grievance of their own and wish to involve the authorities. This is out of my hands now."

With a wave of his hand, his entire crew piled back into their vans. They had arrived like a storm, and now they were leaving in an orderly line.

They just... left?

A flicker of joy appeared in Fabian's eyes. Was Neal washing his hands of them? The brothers both breathed a sigh of relief. Their hands were safe.

Mamie was completely baffled by this turn of events.

Scales patiently explained, "If Neal had taken them, they'd be finished. So they're calling the police, trying to use the legal system to escape gang justice. See how Neal's crew left the second they heard the cops were coming?"

?

"But we have video evidence and witnesses. We have everything. How dare they call the police?"

"Weren't they just walking into a trap?

Scales sneered. "They must have an ace up their sleeve. Just wait and see."

At that moment, Owen Reynolds glanced at his watch and said, seemingly to no

one, "Just about time. Perfect."

No one understood what he meant.

A few minutes later, police cars arrived. Fabian smiled and pulled out a cigarette and lighter, ready to greet them, but he quickly realized these were the familiar officers from the town's police station. These were strangers.

An officer stepped forward. "Are you Fabian and day Moore? We're from the City Police Department's Major Crimes Division. We received a tip last night regarding your involvement in organized crime. You'll need to come with us for questioning."

The reversal was so sudden it was jarring.

Not only were the Moore brothers dumbfounded, but Mamie, Scales, and Roseanne were also left staring in disbelief.

Mamie turned to Scales, her voice low. "Did you call your family for backup?" How else could the city police have arrived so quickly?

Scales shook his head. "It wasn't me."

"Then... who?"

Mamie's mind raced, and then it hit her. She whipped her head around to look at Owen Reynolds.
