Chapter 68

Fake tears streamed down her face as she banged and banged on the door still yelling out for Hilda. "Sis. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take Daniel away from you. It seems he still can't get over you. Why don't you open up so we can talk about it.I am willing to call off our wedding. Sis. Sis. Sis..."

There was still no response. "Sis. sis. please open up." She continued calling out to Hilda whiles banging on the door but no response was heard no matter how hard she tried. Daniel who was silently looking at her all this while felt pained when he noticed how hard Carmen was trying to get him back with Hilda again.

To him he didn't want any of this to happen but since Hilda was still ignoring them after how Carmen looked he knew for sure that Carmen loved him and she was willing to do anything for him. He can't leave her. How would she feel?

As this thoughts were crossing his mind, he decided to get up and pull Carmen into his embrace. But before he could even get up, the land lady came out and spoke to them.

"Your sister no longer lives here. She has already packed out and she hardly comes around. You are disturbing the sleep of my other tenants. You might as well leave if that's why you are here."She spoke harshly at them.

After saying that she turned around to walk away. But before she could take some more steps. Daniel stood up and walked

up to her and held onto her hand asking desperately. "What do you mean by she moved? Where did she move to? How and when? And why didn't you call me?"

The land lady became petrified at the sudden outburst of Daniel and how tightly he held onto her. She yelled coldly "Let go of me!"

Daniel came back to his senses when he heard the cold voice of the land lady. He let go of her and apologized. "I am sorry.Really sorry. How about you tell us when she left and where she left for."

The land lady snorted as she stared at them. "I thought you were related to her so how come you have no idea when and where she moved to? I have no idea where she had moved to.And even if I knew, why would I let you know? I bet she doesn't want to see any of you after all that happened."

Carmen was elated when she heard that Hilda had moved out but when she heard the last sentence from the land lady, she was confused. "Ma'am, what do you mean by that?"

The land lady eyed them. "You think I don't know about how you have taken your sister's boyfriend and how you made up stories about she being a home wrecker? You are such a wicked sister. Who would do such a wicked thing to their own sister?"

She then turned to Daniel and continued. "And you,who would have thought that you were this kind of a man.You

were here all this time when she was here. I witnessed your relationship and I even remember the day you guys came together to rent my apartment but now look at you. You are such an assh*le. You ain't a real man at all. I wish her all the best with her new man. He is way more gentlemanly than you."

After that she turned and walked away. Daniel was saddened but some what furious at the words of the land lady. He yelled at her. "What the hell! What do you think you know?"

Carmen came over and embraced him and in a sad voice she said. "Daniel, calm down. You do not have to yell at her. It was my fault for loving you. I promise if we find Hilda.I would step back and get her to get back together with you. I know she still loves you."

With that said Carmen run out of the apartment with tears streaming down her face. She was happy after finding out Hilda had moved out and with a new man. But she knew Daniel would not waste any more time with her so she had to back up with her false affection for Daniel getting back together with Hilda.

Daniel hurriedly chased after her. "Carmen, Carmen wait." But she didn't even turn to look at him. Daniel ran fast and pulled her who was about to sit in her car into his embrace. "It's okay.Don't cry. You know how much I love you right?"

Carmen tried wriggling her way out of his embrace. "But,you are still in love with Hilda. I know you want to get back together with her. It's okay, I would tell my dad so we can call

off the engagement."

Daniel became stiff at once. I don't love her like I do Hilda but I can't let her call off the engagement. What would happen to the Stephenson Group? I still need her shares in the Adams Group.He thought. He then reached out and raised Carmen's head so she faces him, wiped the tears on her face and proceeded to say.

"Don't worry Carmen. I love you very much. I have already forgotten about Hilda but you know, she is still your sister and we need a way to get her to forget about me. I don't know the kind of crazy thing she might do to herself now you know? Or if she would go living the promiscuous life Mr. Rex is living.What if the man she moved in with is Mr. Rex Cross. Think about what is going to become of her?"

Carmen stop wriggling her self out of his embrace. What Daniel said made sense to her. What if the man Hilda moved out with was Mr. Rex? She would be happy by now. Although Mr. Rex was known for his promiscuous life, he had money.He is very rich so Hilda isn't going to lack anything. Why are all the good people interested in Hilda and not her? She frowned as she thought about this.

When Daniel noticed that she had frowned, he thought Carmen cared for Hilda so she was worried. He then continued."Mr. Rex isn't the best man for Hilda. we need to find her and talk her out of this. She would end up destroying her life. You know that she is still young right?"

Carmen nodded and said. "Yes. I can't let my sister live that kind of life as Mr. Cross."

Daniel then hugged her and breathe out a sign of relief.

Carmen indescribably bit her lower lips as she thought bitterly.You do not love me that I know. You are just after my shares in the Adams Group. But so far as I have you. I know Hilda would be unhappy so that's a plus for me.

She then smiled and said. "We should search for Hilda's where about now." Maybe if he sees her with Mr. Rex, his impression of her wouId change. She thought happily.

"Yes. Get into my car with me. Your driver can leave." Daniel offered.

"Okay." Carmen accepted and ordered her driver to leave.Sitting in Daniel's car, they headed to the KKiki Bee's Pub. The usual place of Mr. Rex.

Thinking about the possibility of them meeting Hilda,each had a different imagination in mind of what's gonna happen.

Silence ensured in the car during their entire drive.
