Chapter 80
Inside Hilda's ward, there was a knock on the door.
"I do not want to see any one." Came a wobbly voice from inside.
Samuel who stood outside at this time did not know what to do. He knew for a fact that it would be close to impossible to convince Hilda now. But he had to. "Hilda, it is me Samuel."
"And I said I do not want to see anyone."
"Hilda, I will be coming in now." Samuel said unsure of what to do now. As he opened the door to get inside, Hilda threw her pillow at him at full speed.
He hurriedly dodged as he walked into her room."Hilda. calm down."
"Ahhhhh. Get out." Hilda screamed when she saw Samuel in her room. Pointing at the door.
Samuel did not know what to do to get her to calm down. He then walked closer to her. The closer he got, the more Hilda berated him from coming any closer. "Do not come close to me.

"Stop moving."
"Leave me alone."
Samuel did not pay heed to her as he walked all the way close
to her. When he got to her bedside, he crouched down and sat on bed after which he pulled Hilda in for a hug
Hilda tried to wriggle her way out of his embrace but the more she did, the more tighter Samuel held on to her. "It is okay Hilda. You are fine. You will be fine."
Hilda stopped wriggling herself out of Samuel's hold when she heard him but rather, she burst out wailing like a little girl whose toy had been taken away from her.
"Samuel, I could not feel my legs. My legs are dead." She said in between sobs.
"Samuel, I could not get out of bed. Tell me this is all just a dream. Samuel I can not walk." Hilda said as she cried her hearts out in Samuel's embrace.
Samuel who was always cracking jokes and smiling mnost of the times was close to tears himself when he heard Hilda. He wanted to tell her it was just temporary but till when? He wanted to tell her she would be fine but how could he when all odds were against her.
"Samuel tell me I will be fine. Samuel please tell me something."Hilda cried out.
"It is okay Hilda. Everything will be fine. You will get better.Even if it means I have to loss everything. I would not mind. I am so sorry Hilda. Just be strong. We will get through this together. I will always be here for you. And do not forget Nathan. He would not want you to be weak at this moment.
He will want you to fight through this as he himself is."
When Hilda heard Nathan's name, she stopped crying as she pulled herself from Samuel's embrace. "How is Nathan?" She asked after a long time.
Samuel got up from the bed and walked towards the window.Looking outside, he replied without any emotion in his voice."He is also fighting for his life now. But with his strong will to live, he will make it out of this. This I am sure of."
After talking about Nathan for a while and Hilda was convinced that he is fine and will wake up. Hilda asked."What about me? What about my legs?" She asked in a shaky voice.
Samuel turned and looked straight into Hilda's eyes. And with tone so certain he replied. "You too will make it out this.I have already sent your scan results to the best doctors in the world. They are currently studying your results. They are certain you will be able to walk again after some time. All you need to do is therapy. And I know you have the will to walk again."
"With therapy and your strong will to walk. You will be better in no time." Samuel replied.
Hilda was shocked at how Samuel spoke to her. If Samuel had so much faith in her to walk again, then why is she sitting here and just crying. She then responded. "I will do anything to walk again."
At this point, Samuel turned to look outside again.
"What is it?" Hilda asked confused. Did she say something wrong she thought. I only said I will do anything to walk again. What is wrong with what I said that had dampened his spirits?
Samuel faced Hilda this time unsure of how to even speak.
"What is it Samuel? Stop holding back and tell me." Hilda said already starting to get frustrated.
"You will have to travel overseas for the therapy. And it must be as soon as possible as any delays might cause other problems." Samuel said as he crunched down to Hilda who looked uncertain.
"That means, I, I. I, I...." Hilda did not know how to complete her sentence.
"Yes. You will have to." Samuel replied a little dejected."But you do not have to worry about...."
"No, no, no. How would you expect me not to worry? Tell me.?"She yelled at Samuel.
Samuel had already expected this outcome. He knew for a fact that if he were to be in Hilda's position, he would have also declined. But that was the only way. There was nothing else.
"Hilda, I understand you but you will also have to think your decision through." Samuel tried to reason with her.
"You do not understand nothing. Now get out." Hilda said in
a grave tone.
Samuel knew better than to stay. "Alright. But please think this through." With that said,he walked out...
