Chapter 17

Two of them were chilling on the sofa when Ella's phone suddenly buzzed.

Seeing the name on the screen. Ella quickly picked up.

"Ella. I'm almost at your place. Are you home?"

Hearing Sofia's voice, Ella shot up from the sofa.

"Grandma, why didn't you tell me you were coming? I could've picked you up." Ella grabbed her coat, ready to head out.

"I just missed you and wanted to see you."

Ella's nose tingled, and she told Sofia to wait for her after getting out of the car.

After hanging up, Lily asked, "Is your grandma here?"

Ella nodded. "Yeah, she's almost here. I need to get Arthur's home fast.I can't let her know about my divorce with Arthur."

In Sofia's mind, she was really fond of Arthur.

Even though Sofia and Arthur didn't meet often, Arthur always put on a good show in front of Sofia.

The main thing was, she didn't want Sofia to worry about her. After leaving the apartment, Ella pulled out her phone and called Arthur. Almost as soon as she dialed,he picked up. "Arthur, can you come home for a bit? Grandma's coming over, and she doesn't know about our divorce. I don't want her to worry," Ella's voice was a bit anxious, and she spoke with a slight nasal tone.

"I'm really busy."Ella was stunned for a moment, then explained, "Grandma and I will stay over tonight, and I'll take her away early tomorrow morning." On the other end, Arthur was about to speak when he realized the call had been hung up. He stared at his phone in silence for a long time before finally grabbing his coat and leaving the office.

Ella rushed from the apartment to the house she used to share with Arthur, and luckily, Sofia hadn't arrived yet.

After waiting for a bit. Ella saw a car approaching from a distance.

As it got closer, she realized it was Arthur's car.

Seeing him get out, Ella was a bit surprised. "Weren't you busy?"

Arthur awkwardly tugged at his coat. "I can't let Grandma worry."

So it was for Sofia, not her, and the litte bit of hope in Ella's heart was crushed.

"Can you not let Ava come over these two days? I don't want Grandma to see her." Arthur frowned and was about to explain when he saw Sofia getting out of the car. Seeing Sofia, Ella quickly walked over and took her bag. Unexpectedly. Arthur came over, skillfully took her bag, and walked to the other side to support Sofia."Grandma, why didn't you call me when you were coming? I could've driven over to pick you up." Arthur supported Sofia as they walked slowly. On the way home, Arthur and Sofia chatted happily, leaving Ella feeling left out.

Ella watched and felt that Arthur had two faces.

"Grandma, have you eaten?" Ella pulled Sofia to sit on the sofa, holding her hand and looking her over.

This time, when Ella saw Sofia, she noticed that her hair at the temples had turned white.

She was already an adult, yet Sofia still worried about her. If Sofia found out about the divorce, Ella couldn't imagine how heartbroken she'd be.

"Ella, are you feeling unwell? Why does your voice sound muffled?" Sofia looked at Ella with concern.

Unexpectedly, Sofia noticed something was off after just one sentence.

"Grandma. I'm fine. I just had a cold a few days ago."

Arthur, who had been sitting there, frowned but kept quiet since Sofia was still around. "Grandma, it's getting late. Let me take you to your room to rest." Ella figured Sofia must be tired from the journey, so she took her to the guest room. After settling Sofia in, Ella came out.Seeing Arthur still there, she was a bit surprised. "Aren't you going back?"

"This is my home too. Where do you want me to go?"

Ava's name was on the tip of her tongue, but Ella stayed silent.

"When did you catch a cold?"

Hearing Arthur suddenly ask, Ella found it a bit strange but still answered,"The night before we were supposed to go to court, I had a high fever and almost got pneumonia. Lily took me to the hospital. I didn't skip on purpose."

Taking this opportunity, Ella quickly explained.

It wouldn't be good if Arthur misunderstood.

Arthur nodded and walked towards the bedroom.

Turning back, he saw Ella still standing there. "Aren't you coming? Do you want Grandma to find out we're sleeping in separate roomns?"

Of course not!

Ella hesitated briefly before following him.

"There are no extra blankets here." Seeing Ella still looking around, Arthur explained.

'What should I do? We couldn't sleep in the same bed, could we? Ella stood there, indecisive, and saw that Arthur had already changed into his pajamas and was lying on the bed. 'It's not as if we haven't slept together before!' Ella comforted herself, thinking it was just for a few days until Sofia left.

After figuring it out. Ella lay down as well.

She couldn't remember how many times they had slept together since the divorce.

Familiar scents surrounded her, and Ella fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, when she woke up, Arthur was already gone.

She sat on the sofa for a while before leaving the bedroom.

In the living room,Arthur was talking to Sofia about something, making her laugh heartily.

Watching their interaction, Ella was a bit mesmerized.

"Ella, you're awake. Come and have breakfast. There are all your favorites."Sofia waved her over.

The three of them sat around the dining table. Arthur served porridge to Sofia first, then to Ella, and finally to himself.

During breakfast, Arthur kept putting food on Ella's plate.

Seeing their interaction, Sofia was very pleased.

After breakfast, Arthur left for the office.Only Sofia and Ella were left at home. "Ella, is Arthur good to you?"
