Chapter 69
Ava hit the ground with a thud, the sound echoing through the room.Everyone froze.
"Oh my God."
What just happened? Ava had fallen towards Arthur, and he actually dodged.
Ava, sprawled on the floor, looked up in shock. "Arthur!"
"Get up, the floor's dirty," Arthur said coldly, not even sparing her a glance.
He was too busy holding Ella, fanning her gently.
A medic nearby suggested, "This isn't good for her breathing. Maybe we should take off the mask?"
Arthur thought for a second, then barked, "Everyone, except the medical staff, leave now."
The director's team quickly exited, sensing the urgency.
Now, it was just the medical staff, Arthur, and Ella in the room.
And,of course,Ava.
Despite her fall, Ava stood up, looking hurt, "Let me help!"
"No need. Go back<," Arthur said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Reluctantly, Ava left, knowing Arthur wouldn't budge.
With the room cleared, Arthur removed Ella's mask. "Help her, now!"
"Got it," the medic said, examining Ella closely. He frowned. "She's on her period and took some medicine that caused this. She can't just take any medicine. If she'd taken more, she could've bled out!"
Arthur was stunned. "How could this happen? It was just some tonic."
The doctor was firm. "It's definitely the medlicine."
Arthur pointed to a nearby box. "Could you please check the medicine inside?"
The doctor opened the box, inspecting the contents. He got angry. "These quacks! How can they give this to women?"
He explained the harmful properties of the mnedicine.
Arthur, though not a doctor, could tel1 something was wrong. His fist clenched. "How do we treat her? Whatever it costs, just do it."
The doctor shook his head. "She needs the right medicine for the next few days."
After some treatment, Ella slowly woke up, looking confused. She managed a weak smile. "Thanks for today."
If it weren't for Arthur, who knows what would've happened.
She noticed his clothes on her and blushed. "I'll wash these for you."
"Don't worry about it,"Arthur said, holding her close, his eyes full of concern. "The doctor said your grandma's medicine is harmful. Don't drink it anymore. He'll prescribe something safe."
"No way!" Ella protested. "Grandma wouldn't hurt me!"
"I'll look into it," Arthur said, his voice hard. "You need to think for yourself. You can't just do whatever you're told."
Thinking about the medicine she was forced to drink, Arthur's anger flared.
The room was warm, but Ella felt a chill. She shivered. "Grandma was just misled."
Sofia definitely didn't mean to mess things up.
Arthur's eyes were blazing as he stared at her. "Do you really need to have a kid?"
Ella awkwardly turned her face away, her long lashes trembling. "No!"
It was clearly a sulking remark.
Arthur hugged her tightly. "I've already talked to the director's team and got you a room right next to mine!"
After thanking the doctors profusely, he carried Ella back to the room.
The door closed behind them.
Ella was gently placed on the bed and covered with a blanket.
"I..."
That was when she noticed there was already a sanitary pad under her.
'Who did that?'
Arthur, sitting beside her, sensed her confusion and spoke softly,"Guess who did it?"
"You..."
"You were out cold. Don't worry, no one knows."
Arthur lowered his head, trying to hide his embarrassment.
He had been so nervous when he had to place the sanitary pad for her.The doctor hadn't arrived yet, and it was just him and a small assistant from the show in theroom.
Even though the assistant was a girl, he didn't want anyone else touching Ella.
So he did it himself.
The room fell into an awkward silence.
Even though they had been through so much together, talking about this was still embarrassing.
After a while, Ella broke the silence. "My clothes are dirty, I need to change."
"The doctor said you should lie down for an hour before moving."
Seeing her try to get up, Arthur gently pressed her back onto the bed. "It's okay if the sheets get dirty; I'll change them later."
"Okay."
Ella obediently lay back down, only her head peeking out from the blanket.
Silence fell again.
Arthur quíckly got up. "I'll get you some hot milk."
Watching Arthur flee in panic, Ella curled her lips into a smile.
Maybe it was because of her fragile state, but at that moment, Arthur seemed like a god descending from heaven.
There was a knock on the door.
Before she could answer, the door opened, and a head peeked in.
"Oh my God, are you okay? I just woke up from a nap and heard about this. I'm sorry I didn't help you in time!"
Seeing Ella's pale face on the bed, Lily rushed over, tears in her eyes.
"Alright, don't cry, it's nothing! It's just..."
There was nothing to hide between them, so Ella explained the situation.
Lily was indignant, stomping her feet in anger. "Damn it, how could they prescribe medicine so carelessly! We have to find them!"
"Alright, keep your voice down. I don't want Grandma to worry about this.
"I heard Arthur carried you up just now?"
"News travels fast!"
Ella's face tuarned red, wishing she could hide under the blanket.
"Oh come on, you can hear people talking about you two everywhere.I heard that when you fainted, Arthur's face was so dark it scared everyone."
Ava fell, and he didn't help her up. He even cleared the room and kicked Ava out. Was that true?
Listening to Lily, Ella looked confused. "You're not lying to me?"
"Why would I lie to you? I heard Ava's pissed off. she started throwing things when she got back to her room."
Lily laughed heartily, not caring at all.
The door opened.
A gloomy face appeared at the door.
Arthur exuded a strong sense of oppression. his gaze cold as it fell on Lily."You should go back."
