Chapter 22
"Scumbag and bitch!" Lily yelled, fuming.
She stood up,rubbing her chest. "Ugh. I'm so mad my chest hurts! I need to blow off some steam!"
Ella glanced over and chuckled. "Come on, it's not a big deal! The show's about to start recording any minute now. But we don't have anyone to look after grandma."
"That's easy,we'll just hire a maid!"
"You're right!" Ella's eyes lit up. "Do you know anyone good?"
"Totally! There's a maid in my building who's looking for work.f'll introduce you!"
"Great, let's get on it."
Finding a good maid wasn't always easy.
Ella didn't waste any time and sent someone to bring the maid over.
Sofia eyed the maid with disapproval. "I can handle the housework myself.
Why'd you hire her?"
"Grandma, I have to go on a business trip and won't be back for a while.I hire her to take care of you so I can have peace of mind!"
"What about Arthur?"
"He's swamped with work too!"
"You should be taking better care of your husband!" Sofia scolded."Call Arthur and see if he's coming home for dinner!"
"Grandma, he's usually super busy and doesn't like being disturbed."
"So what? You should care more about him. Hurry up and call him."
Reluctantly, Ella called Arthur, but there was no answer.
Ella shrugged. "See? Can't reach him. He must be on a business trip."
"Then call his assistant!"
Sofia was so insistent that Ella had no choice but to comply.
But both calls went unanswered.
"They're probably on a plane, I can't reach them!"
"Alright then!" Sofia held Ella's hand. "For a marriage to last, you both need to care for each other."
Sofia launched into another round of loving advice.
Ella yawned repeatedly,barely listening.
Sofia pinched her in frustration. "Go to bed! Work hard, don't worry about me!"
Finally relieved, Ella escaped to her room.
The empty room made her feel strangely lonely.
Habit was a terrible thing; even though Arthur didn't come home often.today she felt especially alone.
With a maid at home, Ella could focus on her work without worry. Several dlays passed without any word from Arthur.
Ella didn't bother asking, knowing they were about to get divorced.
Time flew by, and soon Ella got news from the show crew.
The live broadcast was about to start.
Ella and Lily packed their bags and got into the show's car.
As soon as they got in, two camera operators pointed their lenses at them.
"Are you Ms. Worry-Free?" The director looked at Ella, who was bundled up tightly, with wide eyes.
About to go live, everyone was trying to get more exposure, while Ella was all covered up.
Ella nodded and lowered her voice. "Hi, I'm Ms. Worry-Free; happy to be on the show!"
Knowing Ella wasn't great in these situations, Lily stepped in. "Hi, Ms.Worry-Free isn't very talkative and has social anxiety. You can discuss things with me directly!"
"Got it!"
The director sighed in relief. "Will Ms. Worry-Free always be like this?"
Lily nodded. "Yep, like I said, she's introverted!"
An introverted person on a live show.
The director's mouth twitched, "Alright, let's start with a simple interview!
These will be in the promo!"
"Okay! Just ask away, and make sure I look good!"
Ella wanted to keep her identity under wraps, so she was bundled up from head to toe-hat, sunglasses, mask, the whole nine yards.
The chance to show off Worry-Free Studio's clothing went to Lily.
She was decked out in a suit, a sun hat with embroidered roses, pearl jewelry, and high heels with pearls, looking every bit the modern lady.
The director nodded and signaled the cameraman to step back a bit.
Lily appeared on camera, flicking her hair charmingly. "Hey everyone, I'm thrilled to be on this show. I'm Ms. Worry-Free's assistant. She's introverted, and I'm the extrovert, so feel free to talk to me. We'd love to hear your feedback."
In front of the camera, Lily was poised and eye-catching.
The director was pleased. "Great job, you were born for the camera! Ever thought about acting? You've got the looks!"
"Not really, but thanks!" Lily blushed, grabbing Ella's hand. "To be honest,Ella...ouch!"
Lily's arm got pinched.
She quickly corrected herself. "I mean, my good friend is even prettier!"
The director didn't mind the little slip and continued with a few more questions.
The car soon arrived at the filming location.
The estate was stunning, with beautiful and captivating scenery all around. After getting out of the car, Ella and Lily saw the open space was already buzzing with people.
Besides the staff, there were other guests for the show.
Ella looked around excitedly. "Oh my God, my idol is here! What do I do?
I'm so excited!"
"Then go meet them!"
Lily, ever the social butterfly, started dragging Ella towards them.
Ella pulled her back. "Not now, let's wait until the show's over! It's not the right time."
Lily looked at her outfit and nodded. "You're right, let's just hang back for now."
They were about to greet everyone when they saw the crowd moving in another direction.
A luxury car had just pulled up.
Ava, dressed in a sporty and youthful outfit, stepped out.
Her smile was as bright as the sun as she waved to everyone. "Hey everyone, I'm Ava, nice to meet you all! I'm new here, so please take care of me!"
"Ms. Davis, you're too kind! We've been looking forward to meeting you!None of us are as famous as you! And you're even prettier in person!"
"Hi, I'm a designer, Cecilia Thorne! I hope we get a chance to collaborate!"
Everyone gathered around Ava,greeting her warmly. Ava was full of enthusiasm. "Hey everyone, I'm here to take on new challenges; I hope to work with all of you!"
After the greetings, everyone returned to the open space.
Seeing Ava as the center of attention. Lily pouted. "Such a show-off!" She didn't lower her voice.
Ava heard it and bit her lip lightly. "Did I offend you? Why the harsh words? We still have to work together!"
"Who wants to work with you!" Lily shot back. "We dislike fools, so stay away from us! Ms. Worry-Free, let's go, let's not ruin our mood!"
She grabbed Ella's hand and headed towards the villa.
Ava looked pitiful, her eyes filled with confusion as she looked at everyone.
"It's just a small misunderstanding; I didn't expect them to..."
