Chapter 62
"Did you already know who I am?" Ella asked, her voice raspy and breathless.
Arthur looked up, locking eyes with her. "What do you think?"
"You've been messing with me these past few days!"
"Yep." Arthur leaned in close, his voice dripping with seduction. "I was messing with you."
His tone was drawn out, full of amusement.
Ella's face flushed with anger. "Don't forget, we're about to get divorced."
"Divorce?" Arthur's voice rose as he played with her hair, his other hand gripping her waist. "Can you really go through with it?"
"Let go of me!" Ella, sumamoning all her strength, shoved him away.
Caught off guard, Arthur crashed to the ground. "Enough! Even playing hard to get has its limits!"
Ella sneered, quickly getting dressed. She glared at him. "Don't you want to know who drugged me?"
"I'll look into it."
His phone rang. When he answered, Ava's tearful voice came through.
"Arthur, the live broadcast is about to start, but I fell."
"I'll send an assistant over," he replied, ending the call.
Arthur got up and dressed quickly. Moments ago, he was a wild beast;now, he was a polished socialite.
Ella glanced at him, mocking, "Ava called, why didn't you go?"
For the first time, he didn't drop everything for Ava.
Arthur raised an eyebrow, teasing, "Do you want me to go?”
"Who cares about you! I just want to find out the truth. I only ended up like this after drinking the juice Ava brought!"
"Impossible!"
"Right, Ava is the sweetest and kindest! How could she harm me?"
"Don't be so sarcastic. Leo in the next room was also drugged. Maybe it was his plan! After all..."
Thinking of their intimate actions, Arthur's face darkened. "Stay away from other men in the future. Don't forget who you are!"
"And who am I?"
"My wife!"
Ella was about to retort when there was a knock on the door.
"Ms. Worry-Free, the live broadcast is about to start!"
"Coming!"
The fashion event was crucial. Ella couldn't delay, so she got dressed and headed out.
Just as she reached the door, Arthur grabbed her wrist.
She turned back, meeting his intense gaze. "What do you want? Don't mess with my work!"
"What's your relationship with Ms. Worry-Free?"
"I'll explain later!"
In a hurry, Ella shook off his hand and walked out.
Around the corner, Lily appeared, lifting a corner of Ella's mask to reveal swollen and red lips, and laughed.
"Ella, thank me!"
"It was you? You drugged me?"
"What nonsense! I didn't drug you, but I sent the message to Arthur!"
Lily kept talking as they walked.
Ella felt helpless. "I don't know how to explain my identity now!"
Lily shrugged. "Forget it. It's done. Don't overthink it."
Ella could come up with an excuse later.
Soon, they arrived at the studio. As they opened the door, they wished they could unsee what was in front of them.
The entire production team was there, and on the sofa, Ava was clinging to Arthur's arm, pouting.
"What were you busy with? I got hurt, and you didn't even come!"
"Alright, it's just a mínor issue! If you're in pain, I'll send you to the hospital!"
"It still hurts!"
"Fine," Arthur said, picking up the phone. "Ava's foot hurts, send her to the hospoital immediately!"
The call ended, and Ava looked shocked. "You're not taking me?"
"Im working," Arthur replied flatly.
She pouted, tears welling up. "Forget it, I can handle it. I want to stay and work with you!"
Her whiny voice made Lily shiver, goosebumps rising. "It's work time now;stop flirting here."
Ava lowered her head, looking hurt, hoping Arthur would defend her.
But there was no scolding, making her feel even more upset, tears streaming down her face.
"Alright, our live broadcast is starting now!" The assistant director, sensing the tension and seeing it was time, turned on the camera.
Ella, not great with words, left the audience greeting to Lily.
Lily, in sportswear with a high ponytail, looked fresh and energetic.
She waved at the camera. "Hey everyone, the afternoon might be a bit dull as the designers are cutting fabric, so I'll explain..."
Ella and Lily worked together seamlessly.
Ava and Arthur, like decorative pieces, sat on the sofa, occasionally chatting.
Many viewers loved watching the dynamic between Arthur and Ella,so the director's team kept the camera on them, pleasing the audience.
Ella wasn't thrilled about this but kept quiet.
She focused on cutting fabric all afternoon, while Lily explained, the two working perfectlytogether.
The other two live streams weren't as successful.
Their explanations were too technical, leaving many viewers confused.
Even worse, in Andy and Jessa's live stream, the two started arguing.
No one expected the argument to be over a bracelet Ava gave.
"Your bracelet is getting in the way, please take it off!" After Jessa's bracelet touched the fabric multiple times, Andy couldn't take it anymore and spoke up.
Jessa stood there, looking hurt. "My bracelet doesn't affect my work!"
"Your bracelet has diamonds, it will scratch the fabric!" Andy, disliking Jessa's meekness, explained patiently.
"This was a gift from Ava, representing our friendship."
[Who is this prissy woman? She can just design clothes. Why is she so mean to Jessa?]
[Yeah, this old hag, ugly and mean, Jessa and Ava are friends, so what if she wears it?]
[Poor thing, being bullied by an old hag! Workplace bullying!!
Seeing these comments. Andy was furious.
She lost her cool and snapped, "Know your place, you're my assistant, you should listen to me, don't try to use Ava to pressure me!"
"You're so mean, I'm scared!"
Ava liked to act weak and pitiful. Jessa had learned it well, curling up in a corner, looking bullied.
Seeing this, the viewers couldn't stay calm.
They originally went to Ella's live stream to complain, but many comments were blocked, and they couldn't vent.
Finding an outlet, the viewers lashed out.
Andy's live stream was instantly flooded with "Get out" comments.
Andy was so angry that her heart hurt, wanting to end the live stream, but for her career, she had to continue.
