Chapter 1784
chapter1784
The Elder Elder shot a knowing glance at Nick as he spoke, "With Keir not in the
best of health, the Davis family can't afford a leadership gap. So, after some talks among us elders, we've decided to evaluate and pick a suitable heir from the younger crowd."
"I'm handing out the list of heir candidates now, along with the evaluation criteria," he added, distributing a stack of papers to everyone.
Nick picked up the list slowly. There were five names on it. Besides him and Penelope, the other three were from the Davis family's extended branches, each about ten years older.
"If no one has any ions, we'll kick off the first assessment in two days," the Elder Elder declared.
Nick didn't bother to check the evaluation criteria. He let the paper slide onto the table and looked directly at the Elder Elder, "I'm not on board with this."
His words drew all eyes to him.
The Elder Elder, seemingly expecting Nick's resistance, feigned surprise, "Mr. Nick, what exactly do you mean by 'not on board'?"
"Keir's just taking a break. Who gave you the authority to start a succession discussion?" Nick shot back with a smirk, “You all know who got you those comfy seats."
The Elder Elder didn't seem ruffled by Nick's retort. Instead, he nodded, "Mr. Nick, we're well aware. But if the Davis family's legacy is at risk, how can we face Keir after all he's given? You get my point, right?"
"Plus, we're just picking an heir. Keir's still the boss. It doesn't change anything for the Davis family."
"The Elder Elder's right. We have to protect the Davis family for Keir. е This heir has to be chosen," others chimed in though not everyone had picked a side. It was clear that the succession issue needed tackling. s
They'd all heard whispers that Keir might not wake up again.
Nick, with a poker face, watched the speakers, knowing they were stirred up on purpose.
He leaned forward, hands on the
table, and said in a steady voice et
"You want to choose an
Wait for Ketr to come back and let him decide." s
"We all know Keir's situation," the Elder Elder replied, locking eyes with Nick. "So, Mr. Nick, delaying won't change a thing. The succession decision is final." s
A chill flickered in Nick's eyes.
Just then, Penelope, who had been silent, stood up with authority, "Sorry to cut in, but I'm not on board either."
Her words made the Elder Elder frown, clearly not expecting this from Penelope. After all, this process seemed tailor-made for her benefit!
Had Jaime not clued Penelope in beforehand? The Elder Elder glanced at Jaime. N?w ?ovel chapt?rs are published on FιndNovel.net
Jaime was just as surprised and ignored the Elder Elder's look, quickly speaking up, "Penelope, why are you getting mixed up in this?"
Penelope turned to Jaime with a calm demeanor, saying, "I'm not against the idea of selecting an heir, but I think this list isn't fair."
