Chapter 1880
chapter1880
Curtis somehow understood the markings Mirabella had highlighted on the computer screen, even though they weren't chatting.
"Carnell Ridge?" Wyatt, standing behind him, asked, puzzled. "Why Carnell Ridge?"
Even if the plane hadn't had any issues, there were other routes they could've taken. How could Ms. Mirabella be so sure they were headed to Carnell Ridge? What if the plane made a pit stop in another city along the way?
James was tapping his fingers lightly on his knee, lost in thought. After a moment, he said, "Let's head to Carnell Ridge and have our people keep an eye out."
Wyatt glanced at James, about to voice his concerns, but then remembered the info Ms. Mirabella had sent earlier and decided to hold his tongue.
He pulled out his phone to make a call as Curtis got up and headed into the cockpit.
If Mirabella's hunch was right, Trevor and the others' plane would be landing within three to four hours, maybe even sooner. All they could do now was cross their fingers and hope everything went off without a hitch.
Meanwhile, Mirabella shut down her computer and looked out the large glass window. The night had already wrapped everything outside in darkness, with just the estate's lights cutting through the twilight.
After shooting off a quick message, she got up, grabbed a jacket from her wardrobe, and stepped out of her room.
When she reached the top of the stairs, she hesitated for a moment, then changed her mind and headed over to Nellie's room instead.
She knocked softly on the door but got no response.
Thinking for a moment, Mirabella tried the handle. It was unlocked, so she quietly pushed it open and walked in.
A couple of minutes later, she emerged, her loose jacket casually hiding whatever she had taken so it went unnoticed.
Silently, she made her way down the stairs.
The hall was dimly lit by the wall lamps. The servants had already called it a night, leaving the place in silence.
Mirabella slipped out of the manor without making a sound, unnoticed by the guards at the gate once she was on the road, a car zoomed up to her, and she slid into the backseat.
Just as quickly as it arrived, the car sped off into the night.
**The next morning, Nellie finished her morning routine and paused as she caught sight of her reflection in the mirror.
Without a second thought, she turned and quickly moved to the wardrobe on the left. She op
partially closed door revealing a set of drawers, all locked tight
Nellie took out her key, unlocked the bottom drawer, and pulled it open.
It was empty.
The box containing the black onyx was gone.
Her expression shifted slightly; she searched the other drawers but found nothing. With a steady look, she left the room.
Downstairs, the head butler was directing the staff. Seeing Nellie come down, he respectfully greeted her, "Good morning, Nellie."
Nellie gave a slight nod and casually asked, "Did anyone clean my room yesterday?"
The butler unaware of the situation, shook his head. "No, Ma'am. Your
told us hot to let anyone in and l made sure they followed your orders."
Pausing, he cautiously added, "Is there a problem?" Latest content published on f?ndnovel.net
Nellie eyed the butler, knowing he wouldn't lie, and replied, "No, nothing."
It wasn't the staff.
Looking around, Nellie asked, "By the way, is Mira up yet?"
