Chapter 1864

chapter1864

Mirabella raised an eyebrow, pondering, "Could it be like radiation?"

"Not exactly," James replied, his eyes narrowing slightly, a mischievous sparkle in them. He murmured, "Unless you count hallucinations..."

Mirabella didn't quite catch his last words, so she tilted her head, "Hmm, what did you say?"

James merely chuckled, pulling her hand gently to guide her to the couch beside him. He leaned back, letting his head rest comfortably on her lap.

"Haven't slept well these past few days," James admitted, closing his eyes as he nestled closer to Mirabella.

Mirabella glanced down, her eyes lingering on his furrowed brow for a moment before she pulled her hand away.

But as soon as she moved, James's eyes fluttered open again, his deep gaze slightly dazed, as if shrouded in a soft mist.

Mirabella's fingers hesitated before settling on his temple, gently massaging in slow, steady circles. "Too many worries," she murmured softly.

James's lips curled into a relaxed smile, his voice carrying a hint of lazy affection, "Having my girlfriend here makes all worries disappear."

Mirabella shot him a quick look, not particularly eager to continue the

conversation.

James laughed softly, closing his eyes to savor this rare moment of calm with her.

The room fell into a comfortable silence.

After a while, Mirabella paused her movements. She noticed James had drifted into a deep, even sleep, his earlier worries seemingly faded away.

Her gaze drifted back to the black box on the coffee table, lost in thought.

The old butler greeted Mirabella at the door, a cheerful smile lighting up his face, as though he'd heard some good news. "Miss Mira, welcome back."

He handed her a pair of clean slippers, briefly noticing the black box she was holding, but he didn't seem too curious about it. "Oh, and Keir's back too," he mentioned. Mirabella raised an eyebrownodded politely, and quickly made her way into the hall with the box

Inside, Nick was chatting with Nellie. When he saw his sister, he paused. Unaware that Mirabella and Nellie had already met, he stood to introduce them. "Nellie, this is my sister, Mirabella."

Turning to Mirabella, he added, "Mira, this is Nellie, Chester's..."

"Yes, I know, Chester's mother," Mirabella chimed in seamlessly.

Nellie was momentarily taken aback by the familiarity, her face showing no signs

of age.

Nick was caught off guard too,

seeing his sister so composed, as if

she wa already in the loop He asked out of the blue, "Mirabella, did you know Chester had woken up? You've met Nellie already?

"Yes," Mirabella replied straightforwardly. Remembering something, she pulled out

her phone, tapped a few times, and pocketed it again.

Nick blinked, bewildered. So everyone was clued in while he was left in the dark

Watching Mirabella fiddle with her phone, Nick remembered his failed attempts to call her earlier. With a frown, he asked, "Did you block my calls?"

"No," Mirabella shook her head, her expression earnest. "Maybe the international calls were just acting up, and that's why they couldn't get through?"

Nick could only shake his head at his sister's clever dodges.

He opted not to press further on her excuses, Switching topics instead "What's the story with those three tokens? And don't try telling me you don't know anything about it I know you're mixed up in this."

Mirabella's brow twitched in mild annoyance, her brother's relentless questions

starting to wear on her nerves.
