Chapter 1789
chapter1789
James got to his feet, catching the playful curve of someone's lips. "Off to see a patient?"
"Yeah," Mirabella replied, packing up her laptop. "You know how it is-when opportunity knocks, you gotta answer."
James smirked. "Need a ride?" Read full story at find{n}ovel.net
Mirabella grabbed her coat, giving James a quick glance. A free ride was a no- brainer. "Sure, why not."
Before long, they were out of the basement.
Once in the car, Mirabella opened the Messenger address Grady had sent her. That's when she noticed an unread message on her phone.
[Not so brave, huh?]
The sender was a string of numbers that seemed familiar.
With a raised eyebrow, Mirabella flipped through her call history. It was the same number she'd ignored earlier.
James noticed the change in her expression through the rearview mirror. "What's up?"
Mirabella shrugged it off, her tone light. "Probably just someone with a bad case of envy."
James just shook his head.
The text didn't bother Mirabella in the slightest. She even turned on some music to set the mood.
An hour later, they pulled up outside Lockie's private estate.
A guard, who looked like he'd been waiting forever, rushed over as Mirabella stepped out.
"Ms. Mirabella, you're finally here."
The guard was the same guy who'd been to the Davis family earlier and recognized Mirabella.
Mirabella nodded and pointed to James. "This is my friend."
“Hello.” The guard's gaze lingered on James for a second before he quickly looked away, sensing James's authoritative vibe. This guy had to be someone important, the guard thought.
"Take me to see the patient first," Mirabella said.
"Of course, follow me." The guard gestured politely for them to follow. Soon, they were inside the villa.
The grand hall was buzzing.
Doctors in white coats were locked in a heated discussion, likely about how to treat Lockie.
The guard worried Mirabellat

Mirabella nodded, understanding the situation.
The doctors finally noticed Mirabella
and James. They knew the guard had gone to fetch a miracle healer, but their eyes were filled with
skepticism.
s
A healer this young? They must be kidding.
The doctors exchanged doubtful glances.
Ignoring the doctors, the guard led Mirabella and James upstairs.
In the room, Lockie lay quietly on the bed, looking even paler and more fragile
than he had a few days ago when Mirabella first saw him.

Mirabella didn't say a word. She simply pulled up a chair next to the bed and reached out to check Lockie's pulse.
After a moment, she withdrew her hand, her eyes narrowing in thought.
"Did His Highness take any herbal medicine today?" Mirabella asked the guard.
The guard nodded. "Yes, he did."
"Bring it here, let me take a look."
"Of course, just a moment."
The guard quickly left the room, instructing a servant to keep an eye on things before he did.
Mirabella, unfazed, took out her set of silver needles and began to administer acupuncture to Lockie.
