Chapter 1848

chapter1848

The convoy, now just two rugged SUVs, raced down the highway to Ravenshade, their once-impenetrable exteriors battered and dented. Behind them, relentless pursuers were closing in, ready to ram them off the road at any moment.

For Reid and his team, reaching Ravenshade was their only shot at safety, but they still had over ten kilometers to go. The pursuing cars were gaining fast. Within minutes, Reid's vehicle took another hit. Glass shattered, slicing past his ear, leaving a bloody trail.

Just as he regained control to avoid crashing through the highway barrier, one of the chasing vehicles cut them off, completely blocking the road.

Reid muttered a curse, slammed his fist on the wheel, and had no choice but to brake. Men spilled out of the blocking car, armed to the teeth, their weapons pointed straight at Reid and his team. Any wrong move would surely provoke gunfire.

Reid's face was grim as he stared at the black gun barrels outside.

"Get out," a deep, commanding voice ordered.

Reid looked up at the man approaching, his presence radiating danger—clearly a professional hitman. Yet, Reid showed no fear and didn't move to exit the vehicle. His fingers lightly hovered over the weapon at his waist.

The man seemed to sense Reid's intentions, chuckling softly as he lifted his gun.

A shot echoed, and one of Reid's men in the backseat slumped lifelessly.

Reid's eyes darkened with anger, shocked by their attackers' audacity.

A few seconds later, Reid let go of his weapon and stepped out. Dan, still conscious in the passenger seat, tried to stop him but was forcibly dragged out too.

"Where is she?" The man who'd fired pressed his weapon to Reid's forehead as soon as he stepped out.

Reid knew exactly who he meant and smirked defiantly at the gun so close to his brow. "You think we didn't plan for this?"

"Oh, really?" The man toyed with the gun's chamber. "You do realize there's only one road to Ravenshade, right?"

The message was clear: no matter what Reid had planned, they only needed to block this single route to catch their target.

Reid glared silently at him.

After a tense standoff, the man realized Reid wouldn't give up Mirabella's location. He smirked and. began to squeeze the triggero"Better luck next time."

Reid's fists tightened. But instead of the expected gunshot, the roar of helicopter blades filled the air, whipping up a wild wind.

In the next instant, a bullet sliced through the air, hitting the man,

the eyes. He fell before realizing what happened

The other hitmen surrounding Reid were swiftly taken down by precise shots, leaving only those still in the car Realizing the tables had turned, they sped off in retreat.

Reid looked up at the black chopper circling above.

Several figures stood at the open door of the aircraft, too far to make out their faces but exuding an imposing presence. N?w ?ovel chapt?rs are published on Find1Novel.net
