Chapter 1863
chapter1863
Nick strolled out of the conference room, feeling like he was on cloud nine. Who would've guessed that the inheritance would land right in his lap? With three tokens snug in his pocket, excitement bubbled up in him, prompting him to whip out his phone and dial Mirabella.
The call barely rang once before it was abruptly cut off, almost too quickly. Nick hesitated, thinking his sister might've accidentally tapped the hang-up button, so he gave it another shot. Same result-instant disconnect. By the third try, he got a chilly automated voice: "Out of service."
Nick: "..."
**Meanwhile, across town...**
"Ms. Mirabella, is everything okay?" Lockie asked politely, noticing her with her phone in hand. His complexion had lost its previous pallor, now glowing with a healthy flush. Check latest chapters at FιndNovel.net
Mirabella slipped her phone back into her pocket and smiled. "Oh, it's nothing urgent."
She picked up a pen and paper beside her and continued jotting down notes. Once she'd listed about twenty herbal remedies, she looked up and handed the list to the guard beside her. "Stick to this prescription for another couple of months, and you'll be good as new."
Hearing the word 'recovered,' Lockie's blue eyes flickered with restrained joy. After a moment, he composed himself. "Will I really..."
Mirabella raised an eyebrow, "Take care of yourself, and you'll be fine for decades, not just ten years."
Lockie leaned back in his chair, his fingers instinctively tightening, unsure of how to express his gratitude to Mirabella. Instead, he opened a drawer and pulled out a check he had prepared earlier.
When he offered it to Mirabella, she gracefully declined, standing up with a slight nod. "Your Highness, no need for that. You've helped me out a lot today." The royal token's value far surpassed the check, so she saw no reason to accept any payment.
Lockie, being sharp-minded, caught her drift and didn't push further, tucking the check back. "If you ever need anything, just reach out."
Building good ties with the Davis family was something he was more than happy to do.
Mirabella nodded. "Well, I'll let you get some rest then."
"Alright." Lockie had someone see her out.
Once she was gone, his face reverted to its usual composed calm. He pondered for a moment, then picked up his phone and made a call, Keep tabs on Asa, and find out why he's got his sights set on Ms. Mirabella."
**On her way back to the Davis Estate, Mirabella got a call from James and decided to swing by his place instead.**
"You mentioned over the phone that you've figured out something about the stone?" Mirabella asked as soon as she walked in.
James had been out for a couple of days and just got back, looking a bit worn out. He nodded, "Yeah."
His eyes drifted to a black box on
the coffee table. "It's definitely a meteorite and packed with a substantial amount of
energy probably the main power source for the palace in the underground chambers. But we can't pin down what it's made of."
Figuring out the stone's composition would mean damaging it, which James hadn't done He knew the
black stone was linked to Mirabella's
white one.
Mirabella followed James's gaze to the black box. The box, made of some unknown material, seemed to emit an eerie chill.
"The meteorite's energy might mess with the magnetic field around it, so I had a temporary shielding box made to contain it," James explained.
