Chapter 1851
chapter1851
Faced with Dan's shock, Reid kept his composure, acting as if he had all the inside info, never letting on that he was just as in the dark. "Did you really think Miss Mira was completely helpless?"
Dan studied Reid's face for a bit before he coughed and confessed, "Honestly, I heard Miss Mira wasn't all that capable..."
Otherwise, why would he have gone to Penelope for help just a few days back? "Dan, rumors can be misleading," Reid said wisely. "Look, today we owe our skin to Miss Mira, don't we?"
Dan thought back to his brief encounter with Mirabella a few days ago, which definitely didn't match the elders' tales about her. At the very least, she wasn't the arrogant and rude person they painted her to be.
"Guess I was a bit biased," Dan admitted with a wry grin, feeling the sharp twinges of his abdominal wound. He shut his eyes, worrying about the contract signing scheduled for tomorrow. "I'm worried my condition might mess up the signing tomorrow."
Showing up in this state might not look like respect to the other party, but more like he's not committed enough. If things fell apart, how could he face Keir? And he'd drag Miss Mira's guild mission down with him...
With these thoughts swirling, Dan turned to Reid. "Reid, mind if I borrow your phone? I need to call someone to cover my duties."
There's still time to get someone over. Reid understood the urgency and handed his phone to Dan.
Dan made a bunch of calls to several elders, but when none gave a positive response, he tried a couple of stewards he got along with, only to be turned down yet again. Chapters first released on Find?Novel.net
Dan set the phone down, his face clouded. "No one willing to step in?" Reid guessed the outcome from Dan's expression. Dan stayed silent, slamming a fist onto the bed in frustration.
"If the elders Wanted Miss Mira to ace the assessment without a hitch, they wouldn't have given her this mission in the first place," Reid said, sarcasm lacing his words. What puzzled him was why Grady

Dan pressed a hand against his wound, taking a deep breath. "Get me some extra bandages. I'll do my best to help Miss Mira tomorrow."
Reid opened his mouth to say something but ended up just nodding, "Alright."
Today's mess was clearly the result of some careful plotting. Otherwise, how could those micro-bombs have conveniently blown up on the cars Dan and Miss Mira were supposed to ride to Ravenshade? The plotters didn't expect Miss Ma to hop out midway, nor did they think Dan would survive.
Reid sighed. Suddenly, he sensed something and turned toward the door.
There stood Mirabella, hands stuffed in her pockets, her tall frame wrapped in a dark trench coat, giving off a sharp, commanding vibe. No one knew when she had arrived.
Reid was momentarily stunned and instinctively stood up from his chair.
Mirabella walked in slowly, the air seemingly carrying a hint of something ominous. She glanced at Reid and Dan. "It's just a contract. No need to wait for tomorrow."
Her tone was as indifferent as if she

Before Reid and Dan could react, Mirabella had already pulled out her phone and, speaking into it, said, "In ten minutes, bring over the Davis family's cooperation contract."
