Chapter 1897

chapter1897

"The point is..." Santos glanced at Nellie with a look that was hard to read, only to be met with a sharp gaze that screamed 'warning'.

Santos let out a dry laugh. "Women are not only foolish but downright ridiculous."

Risking everything for a man? What could be more foolish? Santos was done with the chatter. He raised his hand slightly, signaling the elite assassin beside him to make a move.

He had a meeting with King to get to and wasn't interested in playing Q&A with this doomed couple.

**As the clock struck eight, over in Harmony Valley, Mirabella, James, and a few others stepped out of the mayor's house, heading straight for the Forbidden Grove.

The mayor escorted them to the grove's entrance and then stopped. His flashlight beamed into the dense trees, but it was like the light hit an invisible wall and couldn't get through.

"I can only take you this far. Be careful," the mayor said with a slow nod.

Mirabella gave a slight nod in return, "Thanks."

The mayor smiled, gesturing for them to hurry, "Go on, best not to linger."

With a soft 'hmm,' Mirabella stepped into the grove, hidden under layers of ancient mechanisms.

As she stepped in, it seemed like the air hummed briefly, but then it was silent again.

She brushed some stray hair from her face. After a couple of steps, she paused, turning back to the mayor, "You saw them go in yourself?"

The mayor blinked, unsure why she asked, but nodded honestly.

Mirabella's eyes flickered with thought, but she didn't press further and continued forward.

Soon, they vanished into the grove, leaving behind a quiet stillness.

Inside, all electronic signals dropped out.

Wyatt sighed, slipping his phone back into his pocket. Thank goodness his message to Curtis had gone through at least they werent entirely cut off. But the grove was a tougher nut to crack than expected, especially at night. One wrong step and they could trigger tráps, making it no easier than their last escapade into the underground palace.

Luckily, with Mirabella's occasional tips and their own outdoor savvy, they reached

the Massolio estate without too much hassle, though it took them a while.

Almost three hours, in fact.

Staring at the grand, imposing mansion, both Wyatt and Miles were visibly impressed.

A massive stone staircase led up,

flanked by two fierce mythical beasts that seemed almost alive,

their eyes fixed menacingly on

anyone below, adding a chilling vibe.

The mansion's doors were shut tight, with red lanterns hanging under the eaves, casting a bright crimson glow, even though the flames inside were hidden from view.

What puzzled them was that such a huge estate had a blank nameplate above the entrance-no name, nothing.

It was mysterious and eerie, almost like no one lived there. It lacked any sign of life.

"This is the Massolio estate?" James asked, his eyes narrowing with seriousness.

"Yes." Mirabella replied as she stepped onto the first stair.

Her silhouette was straight and steady, climbing the stairs with measured steps.

As James watched Mirabella's slender figure, he suddenly recalled the vision he'd seen after secretly fitting the two jade pieces together. His fingers twitched slightly as he caught up to her, gripping her wrist firmly.
