Chapter 102
Sophia's palm connected sharply with William's cheek.
The crisp sound silenced the entire private room.
William's face burned. He pressed a hand to his stinging skin, disbelief in his eyes.
"Have you lost your mind?"
He shot to his feet, fists clenched.
Oliver swiftly stepped between them.
"Mr. Lowell, please calm down."
William's knuckles turned white.
"Sophia, do you realize what you've done?"
His voice was a venomous hiss.
Sophia met his glare with icy composure.
"Perfectly."
Her gaze could freeze hell itself.
"That was for me."
Among the four Lowell brothers, Christopher and Nathan had been openly cruel.
William and Daniel had at least maintained surface civility.
Now she saw through their act.
Their pretended concern had always been just that—an act.
William suddenly smirked.
"Did I strike a nerve?"
He tilted his chin in challenge.
"Mr. Granger seems awfully protective of you. Something going on between you two?"
Sophia dug her nails into her palms.
"Not everyone shares the Lowell family's depravity."
She'd witnessed enough of Emily's inappropriate closeness with the brothers.
William shrugged.
"If it's not that kind of relationship, why would he defend you?"
He leisurely poured himself a drink.
"Did Ethan Winston dump you after discovering something?"
Sophia's eyes turned glacial.
"Say that again."
William swirled his glass, smug.
"What if I do?"
He took a sip.
"Don't forget—you're just employees."
"Do you think Pearl Entertainment's real owner would tolerate such insolence?"
Oliver's expression turned peculiar.
He shot Sophia a sideways glance.
Sophia suddenly smiled.
"You're absolutely right."
She stepped closer to William.
"I should consider my position."
Mistaking her retreat for fear, William's smirk widened.
"Smart girl."
He adjusted his tie.
"I'm meeting Pearl's owner tonight."
"Apologize now, and I might forget this incident."
Oliver coughed discreetly.
Sophia's lips curved.
"Is that so?"
Her tone held dark amusement.
"What a... remarkable coincidence."
