Chapter 7

The bidding hall was thick with tension.

The general manager of Roland Group stood at the podium, surveying the room.

"After careful deliberation by the review committee—"

His gaze finally settled on Sophia Laurent. "Pearl Group has won this project."

Amid thunderous applause, William Lowell crushed the documents in his hand.

His burning glare locked onto Sophia, fury radiating from every pore.

This project was vital to Lowell Entertainment's survival—yet Sophia had snatched it away.

Sophia rose gracefully, her red lips curving.

"Thank you for Roland Group's trust."

Her voice rang clear. "Pearl Group won't disappoint."

After the meeting, business elites swarmed around her.

Sophia handled their probing questions with effortless poise.

"Sophia!"

William pushed through the crowd, his face dark.

"Tell Mr. Chamberlain you submitted the wrong proposal." He hissed through clenched teeth. "This is your last chance."

A light laugh escaped her.

"William, you amuse me." She smoothed her sleeve. "My proposal was flawless."

Veins bulged on his forehead.

"Have you forgotten your family name?"

"Oh, I remember." Sophia adjusted her cuff. "It's you who's the outsider now."

William's face turned ashen.

"You think Pearl Group can save you?"

He spat the words. "I'll ruin your reputation in this industry."

Sophia turned, her red dress swirling.

"We'll see."

She walked away without a backward glance.

William kicked over a potted plant, drawing shocked stares.

Meanwhile, in the VIP lounge of Cloudcrest Mall...

Victoria Lowell held court among society matrons.

"Isn't that necklace a limited edition?"

"I heard you need a million-dollar purchase history just to qualify!"

Their envious glances pleased Victoria.

She touched the diamonds at her throat delicately.

"My children spoil me."

Pride warmed her voice.

"William runs the company brilliantly. Daniel won at Paris Fashion Week. Christopher's latest film grossed over a billion..."

The women murmured admiration.

"And Emily just landed another blockbuster, didn't she?"

"Such accomplished children!"

Victoria's smile faltered slightly.

"Though..."

She sighed. "There's one who causes nothing but trouble."

The women exchanged knowing looks.

"That wild girl could never compare to Emily."

"Honestly, you're better off cutting ties."

Victoria sipped her tea, masking her disgust.

"Let's not dwell on that."

She changed the subject smoothly. "Who's attending the charity gala next week?"

As chatter turned to luxury brands, no one noticed the figure slipping away from the corner.
