Chapter 189
William's Humiliation
William's smile froze instantly.
He slammed his palm on the reception desk. "Who do you think you are?"
The receptionist remained unfazed, pressing the intercom. "Security, disturbance at the main lobby."
William's eyes widened.
Was everyone in this damn company insane?
The memory of Christopher being dragged out by security flashed through his mind. He forced his rage down.
"I'm here for a business discussion," he said through gritted teeth, forcing a stiff smile.
The receptionist offered a professional smile. "Apologies. Mr. Valdemar's explicit orders—Lowells and dogs aren't permitted on the premises."
William's face darkened.
His fists clenched until his knuckles turned white.
Five security officers approached. "Supervisor Morrison, this gentleman?"
"Yes. Please escort him out."
Before William could react, two guards seized his arms.
"You're dead meat! Do you know who I am?"
Ignoring him, they hauled him through the revolving doors.
Sunlight blinded him momentarily.
Standing on the steps, his suit now crumpled, William kicked the stone pillar viciously.
"Filthy guard dogs!"
Stomping toward the underground garage, he decided to lie in wait.
Three hours later.
The elevator doors slid open.
Sophia stepped out in stilettos, phone pressed to her ear.
"Grandfather, I'm on my way."
Hanging up, she suddenly halted.
William emerged from the shadows with a plastered smile.
"Sophia, long time no see."
She narrowed her eyes.
Slowly pocketing her phone, she tilted her head.
"Did Mr. Lowell switch careers to become a stalker?"
His smile faltered.
Taking a deep breath, he said, "We need to talk."
Sophia let out a soft laugh.
"About what? Your graceful exit courtesy of security?"
She moved past him toward her parking spot.
"Or how the Lowells betrayed their adopted daughter?"
William blocked her path.
"That was all a misunderstanding!"
Sophia stopped.
She studied him with cold amusement.
"You know what?"
"That pathetic look on your face right now..."
"Is more repulsive than flies in a public restroom."
