Chapter 33
Director Lucas Sheridan's coffee cup clattered to the floor.
Dark stains splashed across his polished leather shoes. He didn't even notice.
"You...you're Composer T?"
His voice trembled slightly from shock.
Sophia Laurent stood at the conference room doorway. Sunlight streamed in behind her, casting a golden halo around her silhouette.
"The one and only."
She casually waved her phone. The screen displayed the famous musician's account.
The director's assistant scrambled to clean up the broken porcelain.
"Please, have a seat!"
Lucas practically tripped over himself to pull out a chair for her.
His eyes sparkled like he'd discovered a new continent.
Who would have thought the musical genius shaking the industry was this stunning young woman?
Sophia sat gracefully. Her black trench coat draped elegantly over the chairback.
"Did you bring the contract?"
She cut straight to business.
Lucas hastily retrieved a stack of documents from his briefcase.
"This is the invitation for 'We Are Singers.' Third episode judge..."
His fingers tapped nervously on the papers.
Sophia took the contract and skimmed through the terms.
The conference room fell silent except for the rustling of pages.
"Pen."
She extended her hand.
Lucas blinked. "You're signing now?"
"Is there a problem?"
She arched an eyebrow.
The director scrambled to produce a fountain pen.
As the pen scratched across paper, Lucas's excitement grew.
"Miss Laurent, have you considered entering the entertainment industry?"
He ventured cautiously. "With your talents..."
"Not interested."
Sophia snapped the contract shut.
She slid the documents back and straightened her collar.
"Music is just a hobby."
The words froze Lucas's expression mid-smile.
The conference door burst open.
"Director, the next segment—"
The staff member's voice died abruptly.
All eyes locked onto Sophia.
Lucas jolted to his feet.
"Let me walk you out."
From conference room to elevator, the director chattered nonstop.
"We'll arrange a private dressing room..."
"Any special requests for promotion..."
Sophia pressed the elevator button with a slight nod.
"Standard procedure is fine."
The closing doors cut off Lucas's eager gaze.
Dim lights flickered in the underground parking garage.
Her heels clicked sharply against concrete.
Keys jingled in her hand when a cold laugh echoed behind her.
"Moving up in the world?"
The voice made her fingers freeze mid-air.
