Chapter 219

Adrian Valdemar's pupils constricted violently.

The gravity of the situation finally dawned on him.

"Have you lost your mind? That's Valdemar money I'm spending!" He screamed hysterically. "You vicious woman—are you trying to steal our family fortune?"

Sophia Laurent didn't even bother looking up. "Henry, call security."

She knew Adrian's weakness all too well.

The spoiled young master feared nothing more than losing his financial lifeline.

Adrian's face froze.

"You're kicking me out?" He pointed at himself in disbelief.

"Any objections?" Sophia settled gracefully into her leather chair. "Company policy prohibits disturbances during executive hours."

"You bitch! This isn't over!"

Adrian lunged toward the desk.

Henry Chamberlain intercepted him with lightning reflexes.

He was half-dragged from the office.

"Just wait! I'm telling Grandfather about this!"

Sophia lifted her coffee cup with a radiant smile.

"My door is always open."

Adrian trembled with rage, still hurling insults as the elevator doors closed.

"Who does she think she is? How dare she freeze my cards!"

Henry offered a handkerchief. "Madam is upset. Perhaps revisit this in a few days—"

"Bullshit!"

Adrian shoved up his sleeves.

"Look what that lunatic did!"

Henry inhaled sharply.

Angry red welts crisscrossed the young man's pale skin.

A flicker of admiration crossed Henry's eyes.

Conventional wisdom dictated new brides should curry favor with their husband's siblings.

Yet she had...

Henry masked his expression. "Madam has always been reasonable. If you'd just—"

Adrian narrowed his eyes.

"Were you smiling just now, Henry?"

"Certainly not!" Henry stiffened. "Shall we consult the Patriarch about the breach fees?"
