Chapter 110
Sophia Laurent's lips curved slightly, her eyes flashing with derision.
She had read the script for "River Banquet" long ago. When Pearl Group first approached Quentin Shaw, she had explicitly opposed acquiring the rights.
Unfortunately, Richard Lowell insisted on having his way.
Add to that Christopher Lowell and Emily Lowell starring in it...
She had nothing left to say.
"Do as you please." Sophia's voice was icy. "Investing in films is for corporate profits. Don't flatter yourselves."
Richard's face darkened. "Those who won't listen will suffer!"
Sophia refused to waste another breath. She turned and left with Oliver Granger in tow.
The moment the private room door closed, William Lowell slammed his fist onto the table, knuckles whitening.
He glared at the exit, fury blazing in his eyes.
Richard, however, narrowed his gaze, calculation flickering behind his shrewd expression.
Morning sunlight streamed into the Westmount Villa bedroom.
Sophia awoke to the scent of roses drifting through the window.
The housekeeper had breakfast ready. "Madam, your meal is prepared."
"Thank you." Sophia smiled slightly.
Such consideration never existed in the Lowell household.
No one waited for her at mealtimes. No one cared if she went hungry.
Since leaving, life had become simpler.
No more exhausting efforts for Lowell Entertainment.
No cleaning up William's messes.
No managing Christopher's acting career.
She could finally breathe.
After breakfast, Sophia drove alone to the hospital.
Today was her prenatal appointment.
The doctor's warning still echoed in her ears: Miscarrying could mean never becoming a mother.
The greater danger was life-threatening hemorrhage.
So she decided to keep the baby.
This child was hers alone.
"The embryo is developing well. We'll hear the heartbeat in a few weeks." The doctor reviewed the chart. "Any discomfort during early pregnancy?"
Sophia considered. "Just frequent hunger."
"Perfectly normal." The doctor adjusted his glasses. "Seek immediate care for severe vomiting or bleeding."
After receiving folic acid and vitamins, Sophia thanked him and left.
Lost in thought, she rounded a corner—and collided with someone.
"Sophia?"
A shrill voice rang out.
Sophia looked up into Gabrielle Winston's hostile gaze.
"What are you doing here?" Gabrielle's contemptuous eyes raked over her.
