Chapter 462
The technical director's fingers flew across the keyboard in the surveillance room.
"I checked the system immediately after Assistant Chen left." Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. "The intruder was highly skilled. They wiped all research data and implanted a destructive virus."
William Lowell's face turned ashen.
"Pull up the surveillance footage. Now!"
The entire research facility occupied the top floor of the Lowell Tower with multi-layered encrypted security. Not even a fly could enter without authorization.
The data couldn't have vanished without inside help.
There was only one explanation.
A mole lurked within Dr. Quincy's team.
William clenched his fists until his nails bit into his palms. This project was the Lowell Group's last hope for revival.
Who wanted to destroy them?
His eyes darkened with fury.
Sophia Laurent—who else?
That woman had climbed to power by stepping over the Lowells. Now she aimed to wipe them out completely?
If she was truly behind this...
William took a deep breath, forcing himself to remain composed.
"Lock down the entire floor." He ordered the security chief. "No one leaves."
"Understood."
Static crackled over the radio as black-clad security personnel swarmed the top level within moments.
Inside the lab, researchers exchanged uneasy glances.
Assistant Chen's palms grew clammy. He subtly positioned himself in front of Dr. Quincy.
The scientist remained unruffled.
"Dr. Quincy." William's voice dripped with ice. "I'm well aware of your connection to Sophia Laurent."
He advanced slowly. "But remember—your lab operates on Lowell property. The contract clearly states all research belongs to us."
Dr. Quincy arched an eyebrow. "Are you accusing me?"
"I'd prefer not to." William smirked coldly. "Then why did this happen right before the press conference?"
He slammed a hand on the table. "This is sabotage!"
Over the past month, Lowell stocks had tripled thanks to this breakthrough. State hospitals, private institutions, even Valdemar Medical had extended offers.
William had relished the thought of humbling the Valdemars.
Now if news of the data breach leaked...
The Lowells wouldn't just crash—they'd be finished.
"Investigate!"
He ground out the word through clenched teeth, veins bulging at his temples.
