Chapter 326

William Lowell's heart clenched, fearing his parents would take their anger out on Emily. He discreetly nudged Nathan, signaling him to defuse the situation.

Nathan remained unmoved.

His gaze was icy, the usual arrogance gone. "Is Emily truly innocent? Can she really sever ties with her biological parents? If she's blameless, then what about Sophia suffering in the Li family?"

The living room fell deathly silent.

Victoria clutched the hem of her dress. The thought of her real daughter being maliciously switched made her heart twist in agony. The fact that Li Hongzhen and Li Hongxia were sisters proved this was no accident.

Her eyes filled with remorse as she looked at Sophia.

Emily trembled, staring at Nathan in disbelief. "Fourth brother... I know I've wronged my sister... I wish it had been me who suffered..."

Her tearful expression slightly eased the tension.

William shot Nathan a glare. "Must you humiliate Emily?"

"Do I look happy that my sister was schemed against?" Nathan stood his ground.

That response ignited William's fury.

"Just because she revised your sheet music? Don't forget who ruined your future! Emily has always been good to you—is this how you repay her?"

Nathan pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Seizing his silence, William turned to Sophia. "Did you come back today just to cause trouble for Emily?"

Sophia leaned lazily against the chair, a faint smile playing on her lips. "What if I did?"

"You're determined to make her life difficult?" William's face darkened.

"Jealous of her?" Sophia chuckled. "What does she have that I'd envy? More money than me?"

The mention of money cooled William's temper.

He sighed, his tone softening. "Sophia, I'm not playing favorites. You're both my sisters. This conflict hurts everyone."

"Family?" Sophia smirked. "What were those three just now, then?"

William scoffed. "Emily never associates with them. They share nothing but blood."

Emily nodded eagerly. "Sister is right... Family is about choice..."

"And you all still believe that?" Sophia scanned the room.

Victoria and Nathan stayed silent.

Only William declared firmly, "Emily will always be our family."

"Fine." Sophia clapped lightly, her laughter cold.
