Chapter 116
The Lowell Group had dominated the business world for years with deep roots and extensive connections. A minor issue like Christopher Lowell's should have been resolved with a single phone call.
Christopher thought so too.
When the police took him away, he remained completely calm. With a lazy glance at his assistant, he followed them without hesitation.
He assumed it was just a formality. He'd be released before even setting foot in the station.
But to his surprise, after interrogation, he was directly locked in a holding cell.
"What's the meaning of this? Where's my lawyer?" Christopher frowned.
This wasn't his first time at the police station.
Previously, he'd always been bailed out immediately after arrival.
"You're suspected of intentional property damage. The assessed loss exceeds five thousand dollars, meeting the case filing threshold."
The officer paused. "If no settlement is reached, you'll face ten days detention plus fines, along with full compensation for damages."
"I'll pay ten times the amount!" Christopher said darkly. "I already gave her a check. I'll add more if needed. You have no right to detain me."
"Sorry, the victim refused compensation. The check has been returned to your assistant."
Christopher's face turned stormy.
"Do you know who I am? Get Commissioner Woods here—"
The officer's brow furrowed.
"The law applies equally to everyone."
With that, he gestured dismissively. "Take him away."
Christopher looked like he'd swallowed a fly.
Meanwhile.
The assistant immediately called William Lowell.
"Mr. Lowell, there's trouble."
William was still reeling from Sophia Laurent establishing Pearl Entertainment. With the company in chaos, his mind was elsewhere.
He glanced at the caller ID and rubbed his temples.
"What is it?"
Christopher should have returned from filming to attend the "River Banquet" premiere.
"Mr. Christopher was taken by the police. The lawyer's bail request was denied. Could you—"
"What happened?" William's frown deepened.
"He just broke some things. The other party refused compensation and called the police directly..."
This wasn't Christopher's first offense. William was used to it.
"Whose property was damaged? I'll handle it." He suppressed his irritation. "I'll make some calls to the station."
The assistant sighed in relief.
"It was Pearl Entertainment's reception desk. Just some inexpensive items."
William: "..."
Silence fell.
With anyone else, the Lowell name would suffice. Especially now with the Valdemar connection.
But of course, it had to be Sophia.
