Chapter 53
Nathan's chest suddenly felt hollow.
The judges' commentary session began as scheduled.
"This song is like a warm spring sun, capturing the tender emotions of youth."
"The style differs slightly from Nathan's previous works, but remains pleasing to the ear."
"Technically flawless, though the emotional depth feels somewhat shallow."
"Compared to Nathan's earlier pieces, this one lacks that wow factor..."
After the first four judges finished their critiques, the venue fell silent as Sophia's turn arrived.
Nathan tightened his grip on the microphone, his palms damp with sweat.
The live stream chat froze momentarily as viewers held their breath in anticipation.
Sophia lifted her gaze, her expression calm as still water.
"The composition is simple, but the melodic line—" Her voice cut off abruptly.
After a brief pause, she stated flatly, "A conventional love song. Nothing remarkable."
That subtle hesitation sent shockwaves through the audience.
The chat exploded:
-What was Composer T about to say?
-Does she know how to improve it?
-Finally, someone tells the truth! This song is mediocre.
Nathan stared intently at Sophia's profile.
She said "melodic line"? How would she know how to revise his composition?
An absurd thought flashed through his mind.
Impossible. She always avoided him.
Yet a voice inside him screamed: Ask her!
"What about the melodic line?" Nathan's voice was tight.
Sophia didn't even glance his way. "Irrelevant."
Those words ignited Nathan's fury.
"Leaving sentences half-finished," he sneered. "Is this Composer T's professionalism?"
The room erupted in murmurs.
Other judges turned to Sophia curiously. "Ms. Laurent, perhaps you could share your suggestions?"
