Chapter 188
William Lowell's assistant inwardly groaned at his instructions.
The Lowell Group had been in chaos lately. Shareholders' private deals kept falling through, and partners demanded explanations daily.
Tempers flared among the board members. Anyone crossing their path became collateral damage.
William's assistants and secretaries bore the brunt of their fury. They missed the days when Sophia Laurent had managed things.
The assistant sighed but replied obediently, "Understood, Mr. Lowell."
William left the office, heading straight for Pearl Group.
Sophia had blocked his number. Given her current attitude, he had no choice but to visit in person.
During the drive, William reflected.
Sophia's rebellious phase was clearly just a cry for attention.
He admitted the family had favored Emily slightly. But could they be blamed? Sophia had brought this on herself with her stubbornness.
If she would just apologize, everything could return to normal.
Thirty minutes later, William stood before Pearl Group's headquarters.
This visit felt entirely different from his last.
Previously, he'd arrived full of resentment, finding fault everywhere. Today, he came humbly seeking reconciliation.
Having steeled himself, William felt optimistic.
His gaze swept over Pearl Group's modern facade, approval growing.
Once merged with Lowell Entertainment, the combined entity would elevate the family's status further.
Add Sophia's marriage into the Valdemar family and Patriarch Valdemar's favor, and their fortunes would soar.
His pleasant daydream shattered when a receptionist stopped him.
"Good afternoon, sir. Who are you here to see?"
William frowned. "You don't recognize me?"
The receptionist maintained her professional smile. "Do you have an appointment?"
"I need an appointment to enter my own company?" William scoffed.
"All visitors require appointments," she replied firmly.
William's expression darkened. "What kind of training does your front desk receive? Can't even identify key figures?"
The receptionist mentally rolled her eyes. Who did this arrogant man think he was?
"I'm sorry, but unauthorized persons aren't permitted to loiter."
William's face turned stormy. After a long stare, he suddenly laughed. "Fine, no point arguing with you."
"Is Sophia in?"
"That information isn't public."
"I'm her brother! Step aside!"
"All meetings with the CEO require appointments."
William's anger erupted. "Do you believe I can have you fired with one word?"
The receptionist's smile never wavered. "No, I don't."
