Chapter 470
Richard Lowell's words hissed through clenched teeth, dripping with venomous hatred.
"You stole my company's trade secrets. That's a felony! Not even the Valdemars can protect you now."
Sophia Laurent met his venomous glare with a mocking smile.
"And what does Chairman Lowell plan to do about it?"
His knuckles turned white from gripping the table.
"Return what you stole, and I'll pretend this never happened. Otherwise, I'll make sure you rot in prison."
Slow claps echoed through the boardroom.
"Such touching paternal love."
Her smile vanished, replaced by glacial indifference.
"But I'll pass on being your daughter. That misfortune belongs to someone else."
William Lowell's temple throbbed as he listened.
"Sophia, this doesn't concern you. Leave now."
He needed to get her out before she discovered Dr. Quincy's confinement.
Richard slammed both palms on the table.
"She's not leaving this room! Even if we have to involve the Valdemars, we're in the right here."
His glare burned into Sophia.
"Let's see if the Valdemars still want a thieving traitor in their family."
William sighed at his father's deranged expression.
"Father, Sophia didn't do it."
She couldn't have accessed the executive elevator or obtained his fingerprints.
The framing was too sloppy.
Richard froze. "Then who?"
His face darkened. "Dr. Quincy swore he saw you taking your sister upstairs!"
Daniel and Nathan exchanged knowing glances.
Victoria remained confused.
Sophia burst into laughter.
"Hahaha..."
She watched Richard's shifting expression with amusement.
"Which sister would warrant William's personal escort, I wonder?"
Victoria's eyes widened. "Emily? Emily Lowell?"
Richard looked thunderstruck. "You're saying Emily stole the research?"
William nodded grimly.
All evidence pointed to Emily.
Her sudden request to visit the top floor had been premeditated.
Richard refused to believe it. "Are you certain Sophia didn't impersonate her?"
His obedient adopted daughter wouldn't betray him.
William met his father's devastated gaze. "I'm certain."
Silence swallowed the boardroom.
