Chapter 71
Nathan Lowell stood gloomily in the center of the living room. "If she won't come back, should I send someone to drag her here?"
Everyone in the Lowell family now knew about Sophia Laurent's secret identity as the famous composer T, except Christopher who was still filming on set.
Daniel Lowell merely gave a noncommittal hum, continuing to work on his documents.
Richard Lowell and William Lowell both wore displeased expressions.
Sophia hiding such an important identity clearly showed she didn't consider them family.
What bothered them more was that Lowell Entertainment belonged to the Lowell Group.
If those song copyrights had been under the company, they could have launched several new artists and generated massive profits.
Richard snorted coldly. "What good would dragging her back do?"
He felt a suffocating anger in his chest. Sophia's deception made him feel disrespected.
William interjected indignantly: "She's truly an ungrateful wretch. Giving away all those copyrights to outsiders shows no family loyalty at all."
Nathan frowned slightly.
As a singer-songwriter himself, he understood what creative works meant to their creators.
"Father, brother, Sophia has every right to decide what to do with her own work."
William curled his lip dismissively. "Rights? With that talent, why didn't she prioritize developing artists from our own company first?"
Richard chimed in: "Exactly! Such shortsightedness! What's the worth of those petty copyright fees?"
Nathan remained silent.
In the past, he might have agreed with them.
But this time, he couldn't.
For the first time, he clearly saw Sophia's position in the Lowell family.
"I'm tired. I'm going upstairs."
He decided to investigate Sophia's claims.
The theft might be impossible to verify.
But school bullying that happened in public should be easy to confirm.
If Emily had truly done those things while they blindly defended her...
Just the thought sent chills down his spine.
William watched his younger brother ascend the stairs with a furrowed brow.
"What's wrong with Nathan lately? I heard when Emily fainted on set today, not only did he not personally take her to the hospital, but he also banned her from the show."
Normally, Nathan would seek out Emily first thing upon returning home.
Today, he went straight to his room.
Richard speculated: "Probably upset with Sophia."
He sighed heavily. "That girl is too stubborn."
William, recalling his own blood pressure spikes from dealing with Sophia, agreed wholeheartedly: "Her attitude will bring her trouble sooner or later."
Changing the subject, his expression turned grave.
"Father, Pearl Group has been poaching our clients frequently lately. I wonder who's backing them..."
What infuriated him most was their repeated successes, leaving him scrambling to contain the damage. Even shareholders had begun questioning his competence.
The mere thought of Oliver Granger's smug face made William's blood boil.
His resentment toward Sophia grew stronger too.
Richard's face darkened. "That's the company Sophia works for now?"
William nodded. "Yes."
The atmosphere in the living room instantly froze.
Victoria Lowell, who had been silent until now, spoke up timidly:
"Richard, William, there's something I'd like to ask for your help with."
